Guest JJGrey
Noticed a tick on my dogs lower eye lid. I'm not sure I should try to get it out myself. Does this warrant a vet trip tomorrow?
Guest IrskasMom
Was that Tick inflated with Blood or just was hanging there ??? I took one slightly inflated Tick of my Morty's Peepee today but I pulled it off including Head and he should be fine.Just one warm Day here ( 59 degrees ) and the Ticks are out. Guest 7ct5
YES- pull it out....the longer you wait, the bigger it'll get. I've had to pull newly latched-on ticks from eyelids before... not the most pleasant place to get once, but all it takes is a quick, swift pluck to get them off. If you aren't comfortable pulling it out, vet could be an option.
Guest JJGrey
I'm pretty sure it's inflated with blood. It's the smallest tick I've ever seen tho. I've removed them before but not from his eyelid. Wondering if that sensitive of an area calls for a visit to the vet. I don't have the most steady hand.
Batmom
If it's a tick (and not a mole or an eye booger), you NEED to get it off now, not later. Put one finger (short nails, please) on the eyelid next to the tick so you won't be pulling on the eyelid, use your other hand to grab the critter, and just pluck it out. Not difficult . Time4ANap
We use the Tick Key for tick removal and it works! We have one in the house and one in Rocket's Travel Bag. I don't think I would use it on the Eye Lid since it is sort of a scraping action, but it is handy to have for those ticks that are deep into the skin. Guest JJGrey
Heated up tweezers and tried to get it out but the sucker wouldn't come. The front part is still in there
Batmom
Depending on just where it is, you may be able to gently scrape it out with a fingernail now (or, it'll dry up and fall out on its own in a day or two). If you got the back part off, it's dead, and that's the important part . Sambuca
Don't worry about the head being in there. The body will expel it like it does with splinters. Just keep an eye out for infection. You can try squeezing it out GENTLY like a pimple.
