Traumeel

Recommended Posts

Shane is 7 and has for years had trouble with sprains, a dropped gracilis muscle, and some arthritis in his paws. We've never x-rayed his spine, but that is probably next. We've tried Vetprofen (like Rimadyl), but it hasn't had much effect. He is often very slow on morning walks, and we have to keep them short.

Yesterday I found Traumeel at my pharmacy -- pills and the gel. Since it's hard to know what's bothering him at any given time (unless he's limping), I'm thinking of trying the pills. But I know nothing about Traumeel aside from other greyhound owners use it for pain. Can anyone educate me about when to give it and how much?

Many thanks,

Mary

Traumeel is a homeopathic anti inflammatory. Excellent stuff. It also contains Arnica for pain.

I always have it on hand but I use the gel, not the pills.

Thanks, Claudia. How many times a day do you use the gel when there's a problem? Or does it just depend? (The directions say 2-3 times/day for people.)

Has anyone used the pills?

OK, here's a question I've had for awhile about using Traumeel gel. Doesn't it gum up in their fur? Stupid question, I know, but I can't wrap my brain around how you rub it in past the fur blush.gif

I use the cream all the time on myself, so I know it's great stuff!

I use the gel several times a day for everything from just soreness to a muscle pull to arthritis.

The gel penetrates very quickly and easily. I use the ointment on myself like you do Jan, but get the gel for the dogs. No clumping at all.

I don't think your question is stupid at all, I bet most of us wonder that until we try it

I've used the pills and the drops for Jake and myself. I used the gel too, but he licked it off :lol The nice part about the oral dose is if the area is large or you aren't really sure where to rub it or multiple spots, you don't have to worry about overdosing. You can do both but then use the gel sparingly since you could overdose.

I use the pills. If they are really hurting 2 pills in the morning and 2 at night. Otherwise 1 twice a day.

I've never used the gel :dunno
