Harness For Front-leg Amputee?

Hey guys,

Whitey will be having his left front leg amputated next week (osteo), and I am looking for a harness that would work with a front-leg amputee to help him get up and around in the beginning. I know I can just use a towel, but he's 11 and may need help a little longer, so it would be nice to have something that's actually intended for this purpose.

Thanks!!

Jen

Ruffwear Webmaster. I used it for Cora, who had rear leg issues (one broken, one FCE, then OS-that-we-thought-was-ACL). I think it would work even better for front leg support, although you might want to modify it so he doesn't have to step through with the right leg.

Scroll down to assistance harness. Carol makes these. I have used them with my old dogs and my tripods, front and back.

I second the Webmaster! One of our group's Ghs has a front leg amp - the WM is padded & comfortable for him to wear for a long time, and has a handle on the top so you can pick him up if he falls, or help him get into the car.

I got this for Polli but she hated it and I returned it. I hope it works better for you!

My front leg amputees hated the harness and we ended up not using it. One was 10.5 at the time of his amputation. He'll get around better than you think.
