Guest luvdogs Posted August 23, 2009 Share Posted August 23, 2009 Hi; My female seems to have a sore leg. We have closely inspected it and her foot and can't see any swelling or anything. We didn't witness any abnormal fall/injury and we have all been around her most of the day. The only thing I can think of is maybe my male stepped on her accidently. I also just want to watch her for a day or two in case she just sprained something. What about baby aspirin? we have some of that in the first aid kit. I'd grab a phone book and start calling vet offices.. an e-vet should be open somewhere? I've been known to call vets' offices for advice, esp. when dogsitting Quote every day a tiny adventure. Call evets to find out the dose of baby asprin (which you can use) or just leave it... really they are pretty tough and with a storm coming you probably have bigger things to deal with. If she is using the leg and she is just being a little dramatic about it, tell her its fine and brush it off and see how she does. Guest Energy11 Posted August 23, 2009 Share Posted August 23, 2009 ONE 81 mg buffered aspirin, two times a day, tops, for no more than three or four days/per my former vet/employer. NEVER Ibuprophen or Tylenol. You have to be careful, as even this low dose will thin the blood and can cause stomach ulcers. Please give with food or yogert. Good Luck! Trudy Posted August 23, 2009 Share Posted August 23, 2009 My old vet will not give a greyhound aspirin. He also won't give them prednisone either. Too many bad experiences with greys when he worked with them to use either of them in private practice. Prednisone was actually confirmed for Ryan when one of his specialists said it was fine and to give it to him. Personally, I wouldn't give it without talking to the vet first.
