She likes to sunbathe for a little while but if I don't go get her or if I don't see her standing at the back door, she'd stand there forever and never utter a sound! So I am searching the house and the backyard. Mind you, neither my house or backyard is very large so he couldn't be far and the gate is locked. Just as panic set in I remembered....................he was at the dog sitters because we were going on vacation the next day. Whew! Hugs Ducky - everyone is ok and that is what matters. I do agree with another poster who said you need a big tall cool drink. Mojitos anyone??? macoduck Posted July 24, 2009 Author Share Posted July 24, 2009 After 6 days of being OK, Gracie's ear started to bleed again. The hematoma isn't as big this time. I was able to get her right into the vet today. We can fart around with draining it again or do surgery and be done with it. I will drop her off at the vet in the morning for the surgery. I've done the same thing, let the dogs out, go upstairs to get a little more work done (I work from home) and forget that they're out there. I once even left the gate open in the backyard - luckily both our greys come when they are called, as they were both wandering outside of the gate when I went back out to get them. I didn't even realize the gate was open, as our backyard is all fenced in and I can't see that gate unless I walk out on the deck. I didn't even realize it was open until I walked on the deck to call them (since I couldn't see them) and they both ran back into the yard from the side. I had a mini-breakdown thinking about what could've happened! That side gate is now padlocked and never opened! May sound corny, but I just always remember, "When you know better, you do better."
