Guest katieandpadfoot
My girl Katie had surgery on Monday to repair a fractured leg. She was discharged from the hosptial on Weds. But she still hasn't had a Bowl Movement....is this normal...she is urinating though.
ahicks51
There was almost certainly a fast (to prevent vomiting during recovery), but the pain meds may be constipating her if she's been fed in the past 24 hours. You might consult with the vet's office to see what they have to say about post-op stuff. NevadasMom
I agree with AJ....also watch for passing gas. That's a good sign that all systems are functioning. Guest kydie
I agree, if she is eating well the past few days, and no gas, I'd call the vet
GeorgeofNE
Any post surgical questions should be happily and cheerfully answered by your vet or one of his techs! But yes, I think it's normal not to have a bowel movement for a couple of days. The drugs, pain meds, etc. can constipate the dog. Quote Susan, Hamish, Mister Bigglesworth and Nikita Stanislav. Guest Energy11
I agree with all of the posters. PAIN meds could be constipating ... I'd call the vet for advice. Good luck! Yes, GAS is good :-)
NevadasMom
Just checking to see if "all systems are go?" Quote Carol-Glendale, AZ Trolley (Figsiza Trollyn) Nevada 1992-2008...always in my heart
