LakeshoreGreys
Gotta chase Alex 'round the yard for a stool sample. I'm wondering what the timetable is for getting it to the vet? Can I get it today and drop off tomorrow, or is that too long? It's a stool check for a training class, if that matters. Guest VelvetEars
my vet has said it's fine to get it and stick it in the frig (well wrapped, of course) until morning. but that would probably also fit the 12 hour rule.
KLB
A sample for a fecal floatation should be fine up to 24 hours kept cool (refrigerated), but not frozen. If you were having specific problems (diarrhea, bloody stool, etc), a fresher sample would be more important.
Guest dsszarzi
One time I tried to catch Beanie "in the act" all day, but was never successful. I have two other greyhounds so could not be sure which poo may have been her poop. My vet told me not to worry because they can get a sample right at the clinic. So that's what I did. Bet your dog was less than thrilled with that option. S/he just thought getting temperature taken was no fun....
