Panting...

In light of the other very serious topics here I am a bit embarrassed to ask this question, but if someone has time and any ideas I would appreciate any ideas. PJay had a dental yesterday (not his first). As would be expected he was very lethargic yesterday. He remains so today but is eating and drinking fine. He is on clindamycin prophalatically post dental. He has been panting on and off since I have been home around 3 pm. His normally cold wet nose is warm and dry. Fever?? No other symptoms other than the most putrid foul smelling gas, which I was blaming on stress and antibiotic. I am wondering about the panting. I don't remember him being this subdued for this long last time. Am I being overly concerned at this point in time?

If he has gone potty I would suspect he may be having some pain. Did he have any extractions? My guys always get 2 days or so of a pain med after even a routine cleaning.

Panting in our greys is usually, pain, stress or heat, not necessarily in that order.

Panting can be associated with pain.

Do you know if they "cleaned him out" before putting him under? The reason I'm asking is because when Navigator went it for a dental & extraction of 2 teeth to a 'specialist' (my vet would not do the extractions.....that's another story), I found out after the fact, they actually gave him an enema! I was livid that I wasn't informed of this ahead of time. When he finally went poo, it was a nasty darkish brown goo! He had gas and also was panting after the dental too, which I figured was the gassy feeling, as he was on metacam & baytril which should've helped for the mouth pain.

Prior dentals (with no extractions for either of my guys), ever involved an enema. Both came out of the dental feeling good, and no gas.

I hope he's feeling better today.
