Frosty has had this for months...I didn't even realize it was still there until about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas? They are very common in greyhounds and whippets, especially light colored gh's and whippets. Our whippet gets those... Xan Posted June 16, 2008 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Others might know better, but my dogs went through a bunch of things rather like that (started out looking like little pimples, then stayed on as sores like that until they slowly healed) a couple summers ago. Reading around, I thought it might be hooks, and one dog did test positive, so we treated everyone. They went away and (knock on wood!) haven't returned. Good luck! They look like a little blood blister that doesn't go away for a long time. Then it pops, shrivels up, and goes away. They are pretty common in light colored, sun-worshipping hounds. Sometimes scary looking ones are fine and then others that seem benign may not be so harmless. You just need to get it checked and move forward. Living in Florida like you do, it could be any type of parasite. I agree, go get it checked out. edited to add: Whoops! I thought it said you lived in Florida! Blame it on a Monday! These are common in light colored sun-worshipping whippets and gh's because their coats are so thin. I'm not saying that Frosty has that, as I'm not a vet or animal expert by any means, but it's definitely worth checking out, so you are smart to have made an appt with the vet. I am hoping that it is nothing! There was a fancy name that started with a "c" that he used first. He said he could remove it if it's bothering her but it's no big deal. We left it, he said it may just fall off on it's own. We have some of that Silva dyne stuff and he said that would be great to put on it. Thanks guys! My ex DBFs daughter was born with hemangioma on her nose. She fine now, but had to have a lot of surgeries sad.gif Dh's bff's dd was born with one in the middle of her forehead....it was there until she was about 6 yo. She was lucky, no surgeries. I kept rubbing it, it would bleed but it never went away so I brought him in and the vet cauterized it and said if it grew back she would have to cut it out and stitch it. So far, so good, it hasn't grown back.
