Guest JohnnyBell
My Johnny gets his dental next week. They are going to put him on an antibiotic 3 days prior to help kill bacteria since he has bad periodontal desease. My question is I wonder if they'll give me a perscription so I can get the antibiotic at WalMart, so I'm not paying an arm and a leg for antibiotics. Whay do I feel weird asking for a perscription vs buying it at the vet?
Guest greytexplorer
Don't feel weird about it! Just ask very matter-of-factly for what you want. I'm sure your vet has been asked for this before; you're not the first! Good Luck!
turbotaina
Yep, or ask them to call it in for you and have the pharmacy number on hand. My vet regularly calls in subscriptions for my dog and for our group fosters (she sees a lot of them). Quote Meredith with Heyokha (HUS Me Teddy) and Crow (Mike Milbury). Guest JohnnyBell
Does anyone know if there's a human antibiotic that can be used for dogs that are getting dentals?
zimsmom
Patches is getting her dental next month. When I went for the consultation they gave me a script for Amoxicillin. The total vet visit including the script was $50.00. It should be about $10.00 for the meds.
PatricksMom
Do ask--the vet will also probably know if it will save you enough to be worth it or not. Burpdog
Clindimyacin at WalMart was around $40 for 40 150mg pills which is a 10 day course of treatment. Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
