teri_d
when we got win a couple of years ago, he had some pin sized spots on his eye - since he had a broken leg at the track, the vet thought they were probably related to track dirt. recently the spots on the left eye got much bigger - our vet ran lab work to check calcium level & other assorted tests and made us an appt with the doggie opthomologist. our appt was yesterday - they ran thyroid tests there and said he 1. had old scar damage from some sort of parasite and 2. current spots were both cholesterol and calcium spots and were probably due to an auto-immune disease of some sort - we are to check on the thryoid test results - see opthomologist again in a month and they will confer with our regular vet -- any advise/help/experience with this sort of thing??? thanks in advance for any help! Burpdog
Can you get a written opinion/diagnosis from the specialist? Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
teri_d
i'm not sure -- as much as it cost, i would sure think that was possible i would guess they would send something in writing to my vet -- and i'm sure i could get that from them. turbotaina
Are they thinking panus? If so, that's fairly easily controlled by daily eye drops. teri_d
no - they said it wasn't panus. said he had an auto-immune disease causing him to not process food well - thus causing the calcium and cholesterol spots on the eye - they did a thyroid test at the opthomologists office and said they would be in contact with my vet - we go back to specialist in a month - got tacrolmus ointment for his eyes twice a day. Burpdog
Get the diagnosis in writing and send to Ohio State Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
gryhndsr4us
Sounds similar to what Clark had (although it had nothing to do with processing food). He was diagnosed with immune mediated punctate keratitis. The vet used a camera and took a picture of his eye through the scope, Clark's eye looked like a field of stars, so many pin point spots . Long road to recovery, but he is fine now. If you want I still have the report from the opthomologist I can send you a copy. He was treated with Cyclosporine 0.2% 3.5Gm Ophth Ointment. Hope your baby is feeling better.
