Since Roos surgery ...ten days ago....she has been getting the heaves.....sometimes barfs bile and sometimes just dry heaves. Mostly in the middle of the night and a few times during the day.

I would say twice in the last ten days in the day and 6 times in the last ten days in the middle of the night.

She has skipped a day or two and then ack, ack ack.

Do you think this is just anesthesia trying to get out of her system? I am getting nervous.

Ten days later, there's no anesthesia left in her system. Do you give her a bedtime meal? Sometimes hounds can get a sour stomach just from it being too empty. Especially if she's on any post-op meds...

Empty tummy? Did they catch her mouth/throat with the tubes from surgery? Is this new for her? I would be inclined to call the vet at least.

Sadie gets that in the morning if I don't feed her on schedule.... I've been using bread before bedtime, as cookies just weren't cutting it.

Hugs to Roo!

So sorry to hear this Linda. Cody's post surgery meds say to give with food.

Cody's still on the medications, but hasn't got sick...I think their right - give him food

Give Roo a hug from me and a lick from Cody : )

ps can you send me that pic of Otis in his Twins hat again?

Sounds like a sour tummy to me too.

I'd agree with a treat or piece of bread before bed and she should be fine :)

I called the Vet and she said that sometimes after surgery, deep chested dogs can have problems with acid reflux. She

said try Pepcid.....AND I will try bread as well..

Poor Roo, cant catch a break!!
