zimsmom
48 hours ago I noticd my new greys front leg in the back of what I would call her elbow to be swollen. She had a temp of 102 so off to the vet I went. They did xrays that were negative & told me to give her ASA 1/2 tab 2x per day. I really felt like she needed an antibiotic but the vet said no; she did not think it was indicated. It is sore to touch & feels warm to me. They also told me a temp of 102.5 is normal. Should I insist on an antibiotic? I hate to tell the vet what to do but it really looks infected to me. Any thoughts? P&P
Guest savvyprchick
Normal temp is 101 but a healthy dog can range from 99 to 102.5 according to several websites. I'm sure someone with vet experience can give more details.
Guest CindiLuvsGreys
Yes, 102 is an acceptable temp for a dog. Hope she is feeling better soon.
PatricksMom
Dog temps run higher than human temps. As for her elbow, I forget what they're called (sorry, see the thread on insomnia), but if it feels soft and fluid filled it could be solved by a bit more comfortable bedding, and will probably resolve on its own relatively quickly.
