Guest Hils
Hi, I'm Hils! I got my first greyhound, Spanky nearly 2 years ago then fostered a whole load before failing as a foster mom to Miller, my crazy blue. I'm very active with Gold Coast Greyhound adoptions in Orlando but will soon be moving transatlantic, back home to England - I can't wait! If anyone knows of any fun adoption groups to help out with in Berkshire, England, please let me know cause i'm not going to know what to do with myself without all the work I do for the group over here. Guest Mommydog
Berkshire is a good way from me, but I found this one, http://www.greyhounds4u.co.uk/ Generally speaking there tend be more greyhound adoption groups in southern England. Whereabouts in Berkshire will you be ? Scullysmum may know of more, I think she lives in Sussex. If I come across anymore I'll let you know. Guest Chynagirl
Hi there and welcome . Just a curious question here, how do you take your dogs back to England? Is there any quarantine or anything like that? Years ago I remember having to give up our dog because we were moving back to Scotland from Australia. My dad tried leaving her in the kennels for a week and she had barked herself hoarse and wouldn't eat so we decided she would be so miserable for 6 months in quarantine that it was better to leave her with a family who would love her than to put her through that. Like I said, that was many, many years ago and I just wondered how it worked now.
rycezmom
My daughter brought her hound home from England and it was pretty straightforward. Health certificate, ticket, legal crate , updated health certificate and her military paperwork. She made it thru customs quicker than my daughter and was escorted right to the car. Dont know how about going to England with the pups. Birds coming into the UK are in quarentine forever it seems. The Brits do love dogs though. dmdsmoxie
Hi Hils, If you go to greyhound data and click on forum, you will see that most of the people on there are from Eng. Ire or Oz. If you ask your question there, I'm sure you'll get an answer.
Guest Cossiedog
Hi There Hils I live in Berkshire! I'm waiting for a grey puppy (only two weeks to go now!). She's my first Grey so I'm not yet involved with a rescue group but the one mentioned above Greyhounds4U is definitely the one that advertises in my area. They seem to place a lot of dogs and hold events like group walks/ beach runs etc. Where in Berkshire will you be moving to? We are in Crowthorne which in near Widsor and Ascot, not far from Reading. I'm sure Cosworth would love to have a Grey playmate- especially one with exciting stories to tell about Florida!! Hi there and welcome . Just a curious question here, how do you take your dogs back to England? Is there any quarantine or anything like that? They need to have various vet certificates and it takes about 6 months I think to get the paperwork through but once your dog has one there is a list of countries it can travel to and from without going into quarantine. This definitely counts for Europe and Commonwealth countries (so Oz no problem). I'm not sure if the US is on the list though.
