  1. I'm not sure, but I'm sure they will. I'll definitely ask, thanks! If I understand correctly, ticks aren't as big a problem here, "up north", so it's not always the first thing we think of or test for. But it certainly can't hurt to ask. Is that something that can lie dormant for awhile and then flare up? I finally got your email, Makenna, and replied...will see if anyone else has any ideas about what it might be and let you know. (FYI for QCGA folks: Cairo was Comedy when he was at the kennel.)
  2. OUCHY!!! Sweetie took a spill on some ice in our backyard a week and a half ago--split open a 3/4-1" spot on her right "knee" and had very similar looking scrapes and icky bruises on the edge and inside of that knee/thigh area. She ended up with three stitches to close the cut, just because it would pop open every time she "sphinxed"--but all is hunky-dory now. Just half a Rimadyl that night and the next morning. to you and Streamer! I have come SO far in not freaking out over the "yard wounds" with these greyhound (my firsts), but it took awhile, and a few trips to the vet (and E-vet), where I'm sure they were laughing at me when I left. Oh well.

    Wallace Doyle

Godspeed, Wallace--and thank you for finding your way to the Doyles so they'd be part of this community, bringing much joy to us all. My condolences and e-Hugs to you all... Lisa

    Mac Is Home....

Nope...Jan & Mac (& family) are recent Quad-Citians (just this summer), and Mac was with them for, I think, 6 1/2 years? Jan will have to let us know... And to you and J, J, & J, Jan--Cardinals are definitely a good sign! BTW, I gave Miss Joey a little pep-talk this morning (after she gave me massive smiles and kisses! ) -- I told her George and Schnerf are not snacks, but potentially really good, fuzzy little brothers and that if she knows what's good for her, she'll be on her best behaviour on Saturday.
  5. Hi! Congrats on Mayhem and welcome to GT! When I saw your topic title, I thought of a boy we have here at the QCGA adoption kennel -- Havok! Havok's Greyhound-Data Page (Yes, spelled with a "k".) If you ever wanted to chip...what a pair!
  6. I agree...it has definitely taken a happy turn! And I just noticed the title typo... "It's HeartBEAKingly True" ...like a little bird told you? Just teasin', Jan!
  7. Oh, Cully--you play WAY dirtier than I do! And I must say, "Nicely played!"
  8. That is so funny that you should say Joey. That is the one I thought of also for Jan and family. O-M-G!!! PrairieProf, were you sitting under the table at lunch today?! SERIOUSLY! Okay, I'm am SO not about the hard sell when it comes to adopting, Jan, but at what point do we stop calling them coincidences and start calling them signs?
  9. Jan, it never ceases to amaze me how much we think alike. When we talked about this, I just knew Mr. Mac Angel was already working his magic. When the time comes in our house, I just can't see too many days going by "sans greyhound". Sweetie and Spicy have opened up a big ol' space in our hearts for all the homeless greyhounds, even though our household can only handle two at a time right now. Gosh, there's a handful of kennel boys I'd love to see become a member of your family, but I know better than to ever name names! And when the time comes, I'd be honored (and Cully, too, I'll bet) to be a reference on your Application to Adopt which, I'm sure, will be a mere formality. I went and looked at Sarah Regan Snavely's online gallery again last night. Wow. Just wow. Amazing how she captures the feeling of greyhounds, both physically and emotionally, for me. Excellent choice to memorialize your heart dog (IMHO). Talk to you soon...
  10. Oh, Jan---I don't have any words. Cully called me. Call when you can--margaritas on me when you're ready. Godspeed, sweet Mac!
  11. Oh, Hot Rod, you silly boy! Now Grammy knows she's gotta find a high spot for the baked goods! I agree with Cully on the course of action--except add a big ol' kiss on the nose from me!
  12. Good Morning, Jan! Was going to call you, but then saw the time marker on your last post here, and didn't want to take a chance on waking you up! I don't know why I didn't think of it, but Dr. Taylor does acupuncture, too, besides the chiropractics. It was very helpful for my cairn terrier, Roxanne, too! AND...if you want to try the pads that Kingsmom mentioned (with the picture), I have an unopened package of those that you are welcome to borrow if you want to try that route...I think there are 8 or 12 in the package, 24 or 30-inch squares. My cell phone's on the charger right now, but I should be within earshot... Lisa
  13. Thanks, Greensleeves! Good to have the "what's actually going on" answer, too--knowing it's like tears totally makes sense, too, if it's connected with elevated emotion--good or bad.
  14. My DVM does chiro and accupuncture--did wonders for my diabetic cairn terrier, and has been great for Sweetie & Spicy. I agree, though--just like chiropractors for humans--you're going to have some that are good and some that are charlatans. If you're comfortable with the recommendations, and feel, in your gut, that he's a good guy (regardless of his visual appeal), then I bet everything will be good and Cricket will feel much better. Especially if you follow through on your end with the exercises, etc. Good Luck!

    Walter Roick

Oh, Lynn---I'm so sorry! Your post about the house at Dewey caught my eye, so I opened it, and when I got to your signature---shocked! I hadn't seen any of the posts about his troubles... A beautiful tribute--you're a wonderful writer! Makes me even more glad to know what a special home my girls' mama has found; Walter definitely bounced "Home" when he landed with you and David. Hugs all around, and an extra scritchy for Brightning. Lisa
  16. Anyone have any experience with this product? ---Clinky-Link to "Peticure" website--- Worth a shot?
  17. Welcome! I looked at Lilifee's pictures on Greyhound-Data! Beautiful! I love her speckles! Nagano was very handsome, too! This is a great website; you will be very glad you found it.
  18. Oh, DeVon...I was SHOCKED when I saw Skittles' "Bridge Kid" designation in your siggie when you added pics to the "Pups In Pools" thread. I guess I'd been avoiding the medical and remembrance forums while going through some crud in my own life lately. I've looked up all your posts about her last days, and am bawling my eyes out. The Fruitbat has given my DH and I so many laughs since I joined this site (including the muddy pups in the pool!), and the love you have for all your crew is inspirational. My deepest, if belated, condolences..... Lisa
  19. HI!!! Just a quick "SPROUT SHOUT-OUT" He-e-e-y, how ya doin' buddy?!! Scritchies & Biskies to ya! (Oh, and Hi Bevd!)
  20. Just did a quick search... Belly Band
  21. Sorry...I should have been clearer; I meant that once you'd eliminated all the possibilities everyone listed here, you should get to the vet. I was thinking you'd have noticed her dragging her feet. We have scrapes pretty regularly around here, too. Right now we're dealing with a broken toe...Sweetie's. I think I may start my own thread soon about it for some second opinions. Hope Gigi's doing better today!
  22. Uh, if you were with her when this happened and have no idea what caused it, I'd DEFINITELY be getting to the vet! It looks like she's bleeding from five different places in that first pic. I hope someone with a lot more experience can give you some guidance/reassurance; in the meantime, I'm sending good thoughts for Gigi's tootsies!
  23. I think that would be SO great, too! So I tracked down this thread...hope you don't mind, Bevd!!! There's LOTS more fab pics of the ever-adorable Sprout, including the one with "his sprout wot he stole" ! Clicky-Link to Old Thread with Sprout piccies!
  24. Count me among the stunned...Sprout's 13?! Love him...and your whole pack! Big Hugs & Good Thoughts coming your way from Iowa!
  25. Done. Sorry I didn't see this until now; gotta remember to check the "Announcements" every day, too! As always, thanks so much for GreyTalk!
