crap, crap, crap! I'm so sorry!
exactly my thoughts.

No real advice but when I had all those teenage beauty school dropouts from the OK farms I'd joke that I had the busiest top of a fridge in town. That and the microwave to store stuff.
I used the oven too until I'd forget I stored stuff in the oven.... Preheat was not pretty.
Good luck Joan. Thank you for being such a part of the greyhound world.
um...Joan can't reach the top of the fridge, lol.

how is Gary doing?

rough play, he will be fine. Grace beats poor Harry up and he is usually sporting some kind of bruise some where. We did have a trip to the e-vet when she scratched him in the eye. There was swelling, a red spot on his eye lid and a blood red sclera on one side. vet checked it out with a scope and all. Some prednisolone and some antibiotic drops and by bedtime the swelling was gone, and in two the red was gone.

22 - the age my first greyhound would have been today
Murphy - KB's Air Fare december 26, 1989 - December 4, 2003
Amazing
She was the first.
She was an only dog for a year and a half, how we resisted chipping before that I do not know.
But the came Shine and six weeks later Kimmy joined the pack.
She ruled the roost with a velvet paw.
All this before digital cameras, and laptop computers, lol.
Then the middleboro nine rescue happened, a flash back for those involved, and most of them are still involved in the greyhound world.
I ended up fostering a big beautiful red and white boy from the rescue, and i learned i like the boy's attitude.
So in the fall, when the NH tracks still dumped the slow dog when the tracks closed in the fall. I went to an adoption group to foster a big shy brindle boy.
Sprite was none of those things, she was tall but thin, black, and VERY outgoing.
Then in here somewhere Murphy, my big red fawn girl had a stroke like event. The vet had no idea, but with little medical intervention she recovered near 95%. She went to her first Dewey that year, my first Dewey too.
Two more stoke like events over the years, and a terminal diagnosis due to a thoracic mass.
She made it to 2003!
12/4/03 - Thirteen years, 11 months and 22 days.
I should have let her go sooner, but it was the first time it was my decision. My dog, my responsibility. The vet came to the house and we set her free. We were all there for her, human and pack.
Because of that one big red fawn girl with no kennel name we have welcomed a total of eight greyhounds (six girls and two boys) into our lives. Have lost 6 of them, but never regretted for one day having let these amazing animals into our life.
Thank you Murphy, I still miss you.

I believe clams are too rich for dogs, but have not really given any to the greys, but my dachshunds always got sick (throwing up) from them. they greys do tolerate chowder, but that is just licking out bowls. Not whole ones.

i know i have some nature's miracle somewhere. Will have to search the garage.
letting them out seperatly helps them to remember they have to go, actually Harry is great about it. He does his duty then plays.

I am having an issue with the new girl. She has, on several occasions 3x, left a pile (thankfully she has solid poop) in one of the bedrooms, and in the same room she was wet on the bed 2x.
This is in my parents room, they are both elders. Normally access for the dogs is limited, either with the door being closed or a gate across. But my mom has Alzheimer's, and dad can get forgetful if he is stressed.
She is occasionally let into the room at bedtime to leap onto the bed and snuggle with dad a bit as I administer his bedtime eye drops. She gets 10-15 minutes and then called back out.
Any ideas of why she might be doing this?
To sort of answer my own question - She does get let out often, but i think at time she is wants to play more than potty as she should and comes in without having done her duty. But that can happen on any day, she does not potty inappropriately in any other room of the house.
And any ideas on how to stop her?

Kevin's handsome self is the reason I kept a watch on Harry at the GPA kennel in MA until I had room for another. He is an amazing dog, and handsome too.
Thank you for giving Kevin a loving home and putting up with him until he realized he was home.
I am so sorry you lost him much too soon.

hmm, now let's think back to those nice older gentlegrey boys you used to have. Now you have a pica puppy.
Good luck Jen hope things come out fine.

He was a decent racer too - in 2010 he won the Mega Morris stakes at Ebro Greyhound Park

yes, their temp does rise durning a seizure and their blood sugar drops a lot.
I had a seizure dog for 5 years and many seizures, he never ever had an accident during the event. Most seemed to come onto him from a sleep.

No words to lessen your heartache.
I am so sorry for your loss.
