  1. I feel horrible because I always thought that he may have felt we abandoned him I worried that he thought his forever home was with us and then we let him go...I know Jena loved him so very much...I just hope that Sonny knew we always loved him! He was with us thru such a terrible time in my life and then when he knew I was better he moved on to his forever home...
  2. ...words fail me right now as I am overcome with sadness I can't stop crying, he was like one of my own... Sonny "Sunshine Boy" was our special needs foster for 6 months then found his forever home in January with a wonderful owner who loved him so much and who also must be heartbroken. Godspeed Sunshine Boy...you will forever hold a special place in my heart! Since I am not very good with words in situations like this, I best express my feelings this way... click here for a special video remembering Sonny Sonny was epileptic and had been seizure free for almost a year but Saturday he started seizing and then went into liver failure which eventually took his life

    Lizzie

This news just breaks my heart Suzy and David I love all greyhounds but there are some that you meet that just touch you in some special way that no words could ever describe...that would be Lizzie! I will never forget seeing the photo of her dressed up as "CinderLizzie"...I laughed so much and ever since then whenever I needed to smile I would look at that photo of CinderLizzie Godspeed sweet little CinderLizzie! You have lots of friends at the bridge so I know you won't be alone!
  4. Our Maggie-Mae had that surgery...please read my thread all about it: http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showtopic=138353&hl= warning: some graphic photos She has not had 1 urinary tract infection since then and we have not had to rub cream or do anything to that area since her surgery! We also found out at a later date that her litter mate had the same surgery done and she has not had any problems since the surgery either!
  5. It was Birdie that died This was a post from Sandy, Pres. of NCGC: Yesterday I lost count of calls I got from the Vet about Faith and Birdie. They both must have been crate chewers and their canines were worn off. As it turned out Birdies canine on the lower jaw was fractured clear down through the root. They removed that canine and prior to that they had spayed her. She had stopped breathing during this and recovered. She woke up slow and was found unresponsive in her cage. They did try to resuscitate her. Usually if they are going to die they do it while recovering from the anesthesia. She died almost 6 hours latter! I always worry about the small little girls. Ever since Black Lily died in Nov. of 2005 I am worried sick when they go into surgery. We have Vetted about 155 - 160 GHs and have lost 2. Today I have to worry about 2 more, Faith & Mane. I guess we have to pray that they will do well. When ever any GH goes under they are in danger because of their low body fat and being over dosed on the gases. On other breeds the gases are absorbed in the fat in their bodies and in GHs that cushion is not there.
  6. Thanks for posting Traci. How very sad Godspeed sweet girlie...
  7. Oh no, Pat...I am so sorry for your loss! I just hate to see the words "burst aneurysm" especially after what I have just gone thru Run free Queen BarbieJade....
  8. Oh no, Patti...I am so sad to read about Lacers! I bet Miss Nellie was one of the first hounds to greet her friend at the bridge. I will keep you and Fred in my thoughts and prayers as you go thru this difficult time. I will always treasure that photo of Lacers holding on to her Miss Nellie monkey...
  9. Trish, I too, have been trying to find the words when I know that there are none that will make it any easier for you Godspeed "Stinky" Run Free.... He will always be "Stinky" to me and Stinky will forever hold a special place in my heart!
  10. Sending prayers for Ryan I also immediately thought Cushing's when I saw the belly....I hope it's nothing serious
  11. Not even sure what to say... You were there for me, Trish...it's my turn to be there for you...know that you and "Stinky" are in my thoughts and prayers
  12. I am so sorry for your loss, Jennifer Run free Scooter Cancer took him from this earth but it could never take away the memories you made together along the way....
  13. So, maybe it's not tape worms? I guess I will do the Panacur and if she still tests positive then I will ask him to treat with the Droncit.
  14. tape worms eeeewwwww...I was shocked because #1- she is on heartworm meds #2- she was showing absolutely no symptoms that would make me think otherwise (no diarrhea etc.) #3- she's my pretty girlie and pretty girlies don't get ugly worms So, 3 days of Panacur and a retest on Monday. Just a little set-back before I can get her Therapy work rolling. p.s. is it just me or when your dog gets worms does it make you feel like a bad parent, like you've not taken care of your dog, like you're dirty or something I can't image how on earth she got the tape worms. Also, I thought panacur does not treat the type of tape worms that dogs get...I thought they needed Droncet (or however it is spelled) I actually think the Dr. was not even sure that it was tape worms..he said they looked "kinda" like them but funnier whatever that meant...like were the tape worms telling jokes or something I hope my girlie gets rid of these nasty things soon so she can start her new job!
  15. I'll be keeping Tootsie in my thoughts and prayers!

    Sarah

Sandy said she will post a tribute to sweet Sara...right now I think her heart is hurting over the loss of her...I think we are all hurting over the loss of this precious girlie. Bless Sandy and Julia and all others that allowed Sara to know what love was, again... God Speed Sweet Sara!
  17. Sonny went to see the vet today and he does have a very nasty UTI...hopefully this clears up with one round of antibiotics. He's such a good boy! I have to get him to eat now...his appetite has been very poor these past 4-5 days. He is down to 82 lbs but can not lose anymore weight. He has been off the track for over a year now (maybe 14 months)
  18. Thanks everyone, for your well wishes and advice! It can be scary when you don't know what you are dealing with and it has the potential of being life threatening He peed last night before I went to bed but continued to run around from spot to spot in the yard acting like he still needed to urinate. I have a call into my local vet because our group's vet is 200 miles away from me I am awaiting his return call. He is calm today and acting normal, so far.
  19. I called the Dr. on call at the animal clinic and she said it can more than likely wait till normal hospital hours, altho she can't say for sure because she has to see him...but, because I saw a little bit of dribble on his hoohoo and he's not straining and he's not crying when he's trying and he's been sleeping now for the past 45 minutes since his "episode" then it may just be a urinary tract infection with "some" blockage. If it were totally blocked then there would be nothing coming out of him and he would be in pain. I will take him out once more before I go to bed and see what he does but at this point it's not an emergency...so it seems
  20. This just started about 9pm tonight...he started panting, pacing, barking to go out so we let him out and he acts like he wants to urinate(gets in his urinating position) but nothing is coming out! I've never experienced this with a hound...do we rush him to the emergency Vet, call our after hours emergency Dr.? I hate to rush him anywhere unless I know I absolutely should because he is a foster dog and those medical bills can add up real quick but on the other hand, his well being is very important to us! I love this big guy! I tried squeezing his bladder for him...got experienced at doing that because we had to do it for Alan for 3 weeks or so, but nothing. He is in obvious discomfort. He finally laid down tho as I sit here typing. About 4 or 5 days ago I noticed a yellowish discharge from his hoohoo but it wasn't really bad so we kept on eye on him and it seemed like it got better then this happened tonight. Any advice, suggestions or help would be greyt! I did a search online but found no real helpful information about this.
  21. I am so glad I got to meet Blitz in person! What a gorgeous, sweet boy! I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers! Maggie and Sonny had the big D when we got home from our trip...I think it was the stress from the trip I hope it's nothing serious! I am glad I got to meet you in person too, Deanna
  22. Can hounds get Systemic Lupus? If so, have they tested her for that? Can they give a hound Cyclosporine(surpresses the immune system) Just curious...sounds like she's feeling a lot like me and my Systemic Lupus! Sending my prayers for your sweet blue girlie!
  23. I just LOVE that photo...Lacers and Miss Nellie's monkey! But, I am so sad to hear about Lacers Patti...You have our love, prayers and support too!!
  24. It's never easy when they leave us I hope that you can find comfort in knowing that you will one day meet again... Run free, Cocktail.....
