  1. you still can.... Click ENABLE SMILIES in the fast reply box, it will open the emoticon window.
  2. Many Many Many people were creating ranged events. Thinks like dogs birthdays and gotcha dats happening daily or weekly from 2004 until the sun don't shine. The calendar was a real mess. After trying to clean it up for about 30 minutes and not getting very far, I just deleted all events. Birthdays tied to your member account still exist, but all events will need to be recreated..... correctly...
  3. Glad you like it, and are trying it
  4. Member Name Suggest When composing a new PM, enter part of a member's name and Greytalk will bring up a list of suggested matches, instantly! As an example, type grey in the Recipients Name line, then a list of all grey* members will pop up.
  5. Also give the "Quick Edit" feature a try. Edit your posts inline as well, no need to wait for a page reload
  6. For those of you who can edit your posts... You can now do inline editing Find a thread you started... Click and hold on your topic title. In about 3 seconds you will see it become available for editing....

  8. 9 hours straight and I think I can finally leave the computer for a few minutes.... man I really gotta Pee !!!

Near the top you will see an option titled POLL OPTIONS, just click that Now for the cool part... you can have as many as 3 polls in each thread, and each one can have a max of 20 choices Then give the poll a title, and click ADD POLL QUESTION, and then ADD POLL CHOICE for each option If you want to add additional polls, click ADD POLL QUESTION again Here is an example
  10. This is the NEW What You See Is What You Get Rich Text Editor Notice you can see test colors and decorations in the typing area Emoticons too!! But only if you click them, not type the, Make a list Check it twice Number list And again Here is a screenshot of that I typed above: **NOTE** Because not ALL browsers are compatible with the new editor, it is turned off by default. 11. to save time, I am going to run the old software on the test server. It will start by 7am I need to restore a backup do a few things, and we are rollin'
  12. I doubt we'll be able to act like kids whose teacher has left the room and they go completely ballistic with the freedom! You go first!! 1857972[/snapback] The moderators will be on the test server too, and the suspend/ban functions there work just fine
  13. sometime after I have breakfast I plan to start in the AM EST time. I have been working on all the little details for the past few hours, and tracking my work, so I should be able to copy/paste what I need to into the live code tomorrow. That will help speed things along. Last time I estimated 6 hours of downtime, and it was more like an hour Lat time there was no backup forum to play on though, so I can finish the install before going live this time.
  14. that is fine, but webshots disables remote hosting more often then not. You should find another host. Try mypetpages.net or photobucket.com
  15. OK, looks like NEW STUFF is ahead, just note that no custom work will be on that test forum. If I want a current database backup, I can't mod the forum, as they are overwritten when I restore the backup. And I'm not going to spend a few hours on that when I can be working on this forum. Probably the most noticeable thing you will see is the MARK FORUM READ button is now located inside another menu, so 2 clicks. I don't like that, so on here, I add in another button The rest is less noticeable.
  16. back down to what? Back down from the posts you made on the test server, or back down to posts CURRENTLY still on the board... the posts made on the test server will not count, as that info will remain on the test server and not be transferred back. Back down to current active posts.... I'm still undecided
  17. not dramatically, but there are visual differences.
  18. Just added a quick poll. Would you rather play with the new stuff tomorrow on the test forum, or the old stuff that you are using here now?
  19. Expect this forum to be offline tomorrow morning (Saturday 7 Jan) for a few hours at least. I will be upgrading our forum software. While I am doing that, I will post a link to my test server here in my home. You will be able to log in and post just like you do here. All posts from about 4am will be there, so you should feel right at home, though the speed will not quite equal what we have here. ** Any new posts on that test server WILL NOT be moved back to this live server** All posts there will be lost, have fun, but don’t expect them to carry over. I estimate the update to take a few hours if all goes well… if not I estimate until I throw in the towel and restore a backup I have upgraded the test server a few times and it went well, so baring anything unforeseen it should be a smooth transition. You will see a few new options and a few things moved around, but the learning curve should be very small.
  20. Microsoft released a patch for this last night. It installed while I was sleeping and rebooted my computer, including the 10 or so windows I had open working on the code for the GT update this weekend there goes a few more hours work Windoze users need to use the windoze update feature to make SURE they have this very importaint bug fix.
  21. I have tried a few utilities, but they only show the drive model numbers..Arrrr, this is driving me batty !!
  22. Since there is no way to differentiate between the two text replies, I don't know of a way that could be done. That could be done through a pinned thread. Would be neat with links back to the original threads.
  23. thanks for the stats and for taking an active role I agree, do you have any suggestions, possibly moderated replies? That may cause long delays for pertinent info though...
