Smokey came to me when I was 12 years old. He passed away when my daughter was 1. Broke my heart into a million pieces and I swore I'd never have another dog. Deeyogee taught me how to open my heart again to the unconditional love of a pet. He was with us for 8 short years and I was ready to close my heart again but he came to me and sent me to Jilly Bean and ultimately towards greyhounds. I will love both of these pups forever.

Baxter was a beautiful boy who while in the adoption kennel was bitten by a brown recluse spider. He survived that spider bite and was adopted by his mom Leslie. Leslie loved and spoiled her beautiful baby, as it should be. Baxter them developed cancer in his leg. Leslie had the leg amputated and drs. told her he would probably be alright. Unfortunately Baxter died yesterday. His mommy is currently serving our country in Iraq. She could not be with her baby when he passed away. She is heartbroken to say the least. As a tribute to Baxter and his brave mom I am posting this here for her. Godspeed sweet Baxter. Leslie, you are a brave and wonderful woman and my heart goes out to you. Baxter will always live in your heart. Sending prayers to help you through this terribly trying time. I will print all responses and send them to Leslie.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. You like so many others have had to do the most unselfish thing you could for your baby and that is to let him go. Cherish your memories of him, he will always be with you.

You are very lucky to have two very special guys in your life. Your dad is a wonderful person to give you such a beautiful letter and Dan sounds like he was the love of your life.
