  1. Cali was doing upstairs the 1st day home. I was terrified but she has a mind of her own and I just needed to steady her until she got it. I wouldn't let her go down the stairs and carried her for 3 days. She let me know when she'd had enough of that and it was the same as upstairs, I just steadied her until I was sure she was OK. The vet didn't tell me not to let her do stairs, so.... Now she can jump in and out of the van all by herself.
  2. Unfortunately no. We'll have to try another year. Thank you so much. Cali gets lots of positive comments at the vets every time we go.
  3. Wishes for continued good progress for Dodge.
  4. Cali is wonderful today! She's a nester and she can almost get her desired result with her one good front leg. She's started roaching again and is now almost as involved in the daily goings on in the house as she was pre amp! The surgeon has said that we can now do her bandage changes at our regular vet's office, so that's a time saving relief as well as a big improvement for our puppy girl. I'm so happy that her feisty spirit that was once the bane of my existence has come in handy along her rough road to recovery.
  5. I'm glad Cosmo's doing well. Cali had the loose skin from all the fluids she had and it went away in a couple of days. She also had a couple of potty accidents in the house and that has stopped. I also slept on a mattress in the living room with her so I could be right there in case she needed to go out. FYI, as of today, Cali can jump into and out of the van unassisted and was actually thinking about jumping onto my very high off the ground bed. Continued wishes for a speedy recovery for Cosmo!
  6. I'm so happy for you Tracey. I hope Cosmo has a quick and uneventful recovery!
  7. We've been going through a lot around here lately. Cali got through her surgery on the 9th just fine and we brought her home on the 12th. She learned to do stairs But then we had a set back. The site of the IV in her rear leg became infected and the vets were even talking about it being "flesh eating disease". She had to go back and stay at the vet this past Monday night so they could monitor her leg. She's back home now, but we still have to bring her in daily for bandage change and monitoring. Thanks to Janet (foxysmom) for helping me stay relatively sane and to Cara-Lea (caiteag) for the tripod t-shirt. Vicky
  8. Well, Cali came home yesterday afternoon and wasn't quite sure of herself at first. She ate her supper and did all her business in the yard and only woke me up 3 times last night. Of course, I didn't sleep much anyway. She needs to be carried down the deck stairs to go out, but a towel underneath helps her up. The mattress I put in the living room so I could be nearby was confiscated by the diva queen who, naturally, thought it was for her. I was relegated to the recliner for most of the night. I'll try to get some pictures later of the really cute vet wrap art done by the vet techs. Thanks to all, Vicky and Cali
  9. Glad it went well. She'll be home before you know it.
  10. I hope you get everything sorted out. Prayers for you both.
  11. We went to see Cali again tonight and boy, is she improved. They only have her on a fluid IV now so she's not as zoned out as yesterday. She can get up on her own - when she wants to and is eating like the Cali of pre op! She's very vocal when she wants something and has all the vet techs at her beck and call. So her she is today. This shows a little more of the seepage because...... She's roaching!!! Another showing her private suite Because she's able to get up and is eating, she'll be evaluated by the vet tomorrow morning and could be coming home! I'm so excited!
  12. I spoke to the vet today and Cali's not quite ready to come home yet. She did eat a "huge" amount of food, according to him! YAY! She can get up on her own but not for very long. Her bruising is a little bit more so they're going to give her some more plasma to try to control it. She's in better spirits and is being more vocal about it. Poor baby. We're going to visit again this afternoon.
  13. Not a good dx. I'll be sending good thoughts to you and Cosmo.
  14. My pretty puppy girl will be staying at the vet for at least one more night until she can get up and eat. She looks a lot better than I thought she would and luckily they have her wrapped up pretty well. Bruising is minimal, thank God. If this works, you'll be able to see a video of her and listen to her painful whining. Video Please pay no attention to my morbid sense of humour.
  15. We went to see Cali at the vets and she is definitely not ready to come home, yet. She did perk up a lot when we visited and got up twice while we were there, so that's excellent news. She's still not eating, but that too will come with time. She is drinking water, so that's a good sign. DD took some pictures, but is away with the camera, so I'll upload later. Cali looks a lot better than I expected and I'm happy about it! We're going to go by again tomorrow and if she's eating and getting up a bit better we might be able to take her home.
  16. Just got off the phone with the vet and Cali's doing OK. She still won't get up or eat so I'm going to go see her after work. Hopefully seeing me and my daughter will help her out.
  17. Had good news after anxious hours of waiting that the surgery is done and Cali's doing well. She had an allergic reaction to something and her face swelled up, but everything's golden as of now! We can't go see her tonight, but will definitely be calling later on as well as tomorrow morning. Dr. Bruce said they'll watch her closely for all the "greyhound stuff" that usually happens in the first couple of days after surgery. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes.
  18. Good news! She's been OK'd and is next in line for the surgery, so now I hope it goes without a hitch.
