  1. Betsy our first grey girl, she took over our bed, couch, lazyboy. we moved the lazyboy to our room, so we could have more room in our bed. Bloomer our new grey girl at first slept in the livingroom on her bed, or right on the floor. then she moved to the floor next to our bed (but always from day 1 she'd come to the bed n sniff at me, i guess just checking on us. id always give her a pat, n off she'd go) now that we've her a couple months you never know where you'll find her. either on the couch, next to our bed, or on our bed at our feet. she loves to snuggle with me b4 dh gets to bed. but she still does her midnight checks. now our doxie thats another story, she is up my butt everywhere i go. if im sitting or laying still she is sleeping on me.
  2. My Betsy. Betsy I miss you. I miss the way you were always in my spot. No matter where we were. How you’d always take daddy’s spot in bed, before he’d get there in time. If I took a nap, you were always curled up next to me. On the couch, You were my 60+ pound, all legs lap dog. Daddy still clears out the recliner for you every night. Your food bowl still sits in the kitchen. Biscuits n Gravy Sunday will always be known as your day. Your nose there waiting for a piece of sausage to “fall” on the floor. We’ll never forget your wet nose. It was always there, no matter where we went, what we were doing. Your nose was always a step ahead of us. Pipers lil snart prints on the windows, look lonely without your big ones two feet above them. Who’s nose will I scratch every morning, if its not yours that greets me in the bathroom? Jakob says his feet will never be warm again, without you laying on them during movie night. He still holds his food high, to keep it out of reach of your nose. Who will inspect him, and his backpack every day after school? And Piper.. believe it or not piper will miss you most off all I think. Our lil Piper who was a hand full of legs, n nose when we brought her home. That lil black n tan doxie wasn’t afraid of you. She snuggled up to you that first day, and never left your side after. You kept her warm, always laying across your back on the couch. You had the height, and she had the brains to get you both in trouble. (I’m still pretty sure it was you getting the cake mixes down off the counter) but no you never helped open them up allll over my couch to make chocolate goo. You touched the lives of so many people in this community. Everyone in this family will miss you, and you’ll never be forgotten, you have found a special place in all of our hearts. You have been laid to rest in the most peaceful part of this farm. I never got to see you race. I missed that part of your beauty, and grace, But I was blessed with it everyday you were in my life, in my heart. Good Bye… I will love you forever, and always. To My Betsy. ……….Betsy’s Kiss …… 3.11.02 – 3.24.08 ……When I die, let it be as a pet ……So someone will remember me. ………………-A Greyhounds prayer.
  3. hey all, I've taken betsy to the vet. they r going to do some blood tests, and keep her over night. i'll pick her up in the am. right now tho the vet doesnt seem too worried, or acts like there is much he can do right now. if she seems to be having more, then he'll look into some meds for her. No, the only other dog we have in the house is piper, our lil doxie, she took off for the hills yesterday when it happened, so i dont think she'll be much of a worry. ok thanks all keep ya posted.
  4. Well as of now (8:30pm) she seems back to normal. pretty well ticked off that i wont let her have any popcorn. She has been quiet most the day, has been clingy with me, kinda like "thanks mom for taking care of me" I'll be taking her to the vet early tomorrow before i go see dad at the hospital, so i'll keep ya'll posted. Thanks for all the info
  5. Ok let me start by saying... Nothing like this has ever happened before. Nothing out of the norm has happened in the last few days to bring this on.. no getting into anything,, no eatting anything different.. everything has been same ol same ol. This am, we were all get around, ready togo to church, Betsy is always the last out of bed (why leave a warm spot?) I was just about togo out and get a cup off coffee when behind me i hear something crashing around, i turned around thinking, i was gonna see the rat cage on the floor or something, but what i see is betsy crashing about the room like a drunk. it was all happening so fast, i got her stopped, and settled down on the floor, but i was worried she had hurt herself crashing into the walls. she wasnt just bouncing off of them, it was smashing, and crashing into them. Once i got her settled down, to me she acted more as if she had had a stroke. her back legs wouldnt work, and her left side went limp. and, she had her head hung low. by the time we got on the phone with the vet, and got all the info to him, she was starting to come out of it. really unstable on her legs once she got up (still a lil drunkish acting) we waited about an hour, she was restless, we fed her a lil bit with the other dogs, she kept it down, but she just seems out of it today. she seems ok, just slow feeling ickish. Now most sundays i make bisc. n gravy, and she is right there praying for something to fall so she can have it. not today, she could have cared less, curled up in her lazyboy chair. Talking to the vet, he thinks it could have been a siezure, telling me it could be just one of many, or just one out of the blue. He wants me to watch her today, and bring her in tomorrow. I want togo in armed with all the info i can get, so i'm here knowing i can gt that here...... So what do you all think? siezure, stroke, or what? I'm so worried about my lil girl.
  6. I'm so excited, i was just thinking about this lastnight.... wooooohoooooo!!!!!!!
  7. Hey thankyou all so much for all the info. and thankyou for not yelling at me..lol i felt like such a bad mommy. I really should have known better. They seem to be doing well today/tonight. piper isnt whinning anymore, and betsy has been back to old self. I call tomorrow morning and see if the Vet is open, and ask a few questions, but i think we are doin good. again thankyou all so much.
  8. Ok so i know,, i know i'm a bad mommy. I thought i had it all put away safe n sounds, but i guess not. I left for the day (wednesday), Dh was home, I had one walmart bag left on the kitchen table. I went thru it, but saw there were just some shirts in it, but nope, there were a bag of Chocolate truffles, and a thing of marshmellow santas way down in the bottom. Dh left togo to the store, never thought anything about the bag on the table, Thought it was Christmas cards from the night before. Now plz keep in mind, there is a greyhound, and a mini Doxie. I cant say for sure but i know they work together, when it comes to getting into trouble. The greyhound can see, and sniff everything up hight, and the doxie is good at climbing up to things, knocking them down, and the two of them have a hay day... now that makes me even more of a bad mommy because i should have known better... Dh gets home to find, all truffles gone, wrappers left behinde, and the same with all marshmellow santas. I cant say who got more of what, all i know is that they r both acting odd.. betsy 9the greyhound) is just a lil more quiet for the last couple of days. She threw up her breakfast this am. not really out of the norm for her, if she eats too fast she tends to "burp" it back up. Now Piper (the doxie) she is acting really odd. almost acting a lil nutters. whinning at everything, barking at everything, and almost stuck to us like glue.. Sooooooo any thoughts on this? since its been a few days, our we pretty much in the clear as far as health issues, or could there be something happening that i dont see? I feel so bad, I know they feel kinda punky, but so far i'm not seeing anything too bad, even their potty breaks seem to be normal.. but as a mommy i do worry....even tho i feel like the worlds worst mommy.
  9. Cute!!... How wonderful! i'm so happy everything got to you safe n sound. The one thing this family knows how todo is pack. we travel a lot, as kids we moved a lot, and now as an adult i know how to save on shipping costs..lol Everyone at dads dialysis clinic though it was funny i was packing all the stuff there to send. I'm so happy you enjoyed everything. I couldnt keep the doogs off the kitchen table, and out of the shopping bags, because they wanted the treats too.. Merry Christmas, Best wishes.... All of us here in the nut house...lol
  10. Blastsmom..... Thankyou so much for all of the wonderful gifts. Betsy just loved them. The treats were a big hit. The collar is so cute, and looks greyt on her. I couldnt keep all the noses, paws, and lil hands out of the box long enough to get a good look at everything, till everyone settled down a bit. This house, the ppl, and the pups were bouncing off the walls. I keep most our treats up on the fridge, and Betsy has had an eye on them alll day... Again thankyou so much, you out did yourself. We wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Blessed New Year. Nikki, Betsy, and the rest of us nutters.
  11. Awww That is Wonderful. I'm so happy you enjoyed your Secret Santa gifts. I had to work hard to keep them stuffies away from Betsy, and Piper. I cought Piper up on the kitchen chairs nosing through the bags, looking for them cookie treats. I hope your sibs share their treats wif you. Betsy also loves red, and thought the blanket was a good one for you, and mommy. Her fave time of the night is when we snuggle on the couch with our blankets. Dont be too upset with mommy, and her not sharing the chocolates, those were just for her..I said so! We wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, and a Blessed New Year! Lots of love.. Nikki, Betsy, and the rest of our crazy gang.
  12. Ok, so i read the cute lil santa card that was in the box. Yes i did open the card, and nope (unless i did some digging) i havent got a clue yet. so i'll be good. Sorry there was a lot going on, when the box got here, many hands, paws, and noses trying to get at everything in the box.
  13. I Love Secret Santa... This will be our 3rd yr i believe. maybe i've lost count. Betsy knows the boxes are for her. This is pipers 2nd yr, and she is a lil selfish. she'd rather just make sure she is in the middle of whatever is going on so betsy doesnt get more then her. Funny how the whole family gets into it as well. we all get excited, and just this friday the UPS guy tracked us down at my brothers to make sure we got our box. (small town, and he knows the family) Now the ppl at dialysis sat there and watched me pack up the boxes to get ready and send them off. They all thought i was a lil nutts, maybe i'am, but i love to celebrate life, and the ppl/pets in it.
  14. Jazz......... This is Pipers mommy I have to type this note for her, she is a lil short to reach the computer. Piper loooooves her secret santa package. Wow it was stocked full of greyt stuff. Your so sweet. Piper was lost in the box checking everything out, and already has things tucked through out the house in their safe places, but i'm making her share her goodies........ You let your family know how much we've enjoyed our gifts, and how much i loved the card. Wishing you all a Blessed holiday season.... Piper, and her Family.
  15. Two are mine as well. we got hit hard by that Ice/snow storm, i had just a couple loose ends to tie up, so my boxes will go out first thing tomorrow (thursday) i'am so sorry.
  16. Mine will go out tuesday or wednesday. do to my payday flubber upper, i had to wait to finish up my shopping. we also have an ice storm, so i'm kinda stuck in the house...lol
  17. Well i think if anyone here knows anything at all, is that our fur babies have a mind of their own, and most times it isnt always agreeing with ours. No worries hun, i'm sure your SS will understand.

  19. I signed up 2 of our dogs.. Betsy.... Our one, and only greyhound. She is 6 yrs old, a red/fawn. pretty much her personality is a like a snobbish cat. She likes to lay around, eat, be told how pretty she is, and not spend too much energy on playing. Lets not forget you had better be ready to dish out the loves when she wants them, but dont be shocked to get the cold shoulder when she has "better" things todo. Piper.... Our lil mini doxie. she will be 2 yrs old in feb. She is my lil baby girl. A black and tan dapple, looooves to play, looooves to pick on her big sister Betsy, and looooooves to "gaurd" me from daddy. Myself, and my Ds are her ppl. she looooooves to steal the unwanted, unloved stuffies betsy doesnt have time for. loooooooves to eat, and loooooves to pick on "her" momma cat who loves to ignore her the best she can. My lil bundle of energy. I didnt sign the other two pets up, but i'll tell a lil about them, as they r such big parts of our family... Shelby our chow-mix is our outside gaurd dog. She loooves my son, and has more then once did her fair share of protecting him, and our home from the nutters. I'd love to have her as an indoor dog, but she loves it so much outside she'll go nutters herself being couped up inside... Socks, our momma cat, is also out outside/barn kitty. She showed up one day, and adopted us as her ppl, and we've loved her up ever since. she had a litter of 6 kittens this past spring (bad momma cat was having "parties" in the barn). She gaurds us from the cows...lol who get out of their fields.
  20. Just to add my 2 cents....... lmao...them evil elfs are nuffin but fun loving trouble makers..lmao
  21. I dont know.... Would a one way ticket outta my insane world be too much to ask for?...lmao if so i'd be happy with one to aussie, or the uk... HEY...it doesnt hurt to ask!
  22. Ok, called the vet, took her in, they r keeeping her over the weekend to keep an eye on her, her urine was all clear this morning, but she is really gasy, but no BIG D. so we'll keep our fingers crossed, and i've went thru and doggy proofed my kitchen, again.
  23. Well thankyou so much for the info, we've made an apt, and are taking her in first thing in the morning. funny how i knew about the food dangers, but i had never heard about the onions, and garlic. I always stick those things in the klitchen closet, in their own baskits, and the only reason they were left out on the kitchen table was because i was running late to get to the bus..I guess i never thought a dog would like a raw onion but i guess i was wrong.... again thankyou all....i will keep u posted.
  24. Well More drama, but this time its my betsy girl. about 3 months ago, we couldnt seem to keep the weight on her, everything we tried, and she kept losing weight. then she just lost her pep. wasnt the same lovable girl. she just acted as if she was in a funk..so we took her to the vet, and after some blood testing, they came back saying it was her thyroid (spelling) so they gave us some meds, and she slowly started getting better, back to her normal self, and was gaining her weight again.....Well i've seen here in the last few days she's been losing her weight again, and lost a lil pep in her step. so i called the vet, he said start her on her meds again, if no change, bring her in. "but we'll be gone for the weekend".......So yesterday after putting away some stuff i got from the market i ran down to the bus-stop to pick up my son, and when we got home I found that both dogs had gotten into a bag of red onions. only one was eatting (with what i thought most of what in lil pieces all over the floor) and the others just had bite marks in them. well i figured one of them would have an upset tummy, or THE BIG D!!!. told Dh to pick up some plain yogurt on his way home from work. this morning Dh came in from their morning walk, and said her urine had a redish color to it. i asked if it was red, purpleish, or darkish more like blood?..he said "well i really couldnt tell but it wasnt yellow." so i said well we'll keep an eye on it, i'm not sure if them eatting the onions would have anything todo with it. ......So this evening i came home, and i always leave a folded towel next to the door, just in case i dont make it home in time. well i had found a very dark urine stain on it, so i got some toilet paper padded the spot, and yes i could tell it was blood. it was a brownish color, and smelled of a rusty smell...... btw...no one had THE BIG D!!, and the other dog is fine. Soooooo If anyone could give me a heads up on what they think might be going on, so i'll know what to think before i go run her to the vet./hospital tomorrow morning.
