  1. I would love to send you some of our liver treats, aka doggie crack, but I don't think it would get past the border, unfortunately.

Sending warm gentle hugs to you both, and know that anyone who loves their greyhound as much as you do could never make the wrong decision. It's just a rough patch.

  2. Well, we just went through the whole "keep the tongue off the foot" thing with Romi, who had his toe amputated. We sprayed with colloidal silver and left it open for the air to get at, which helps the most with healing. I had to resort to a muzzle with tape on it to keep him from licking it, but it's healed up beautifully with this protocol.

If you wrap it up, it won't heal. You could try a cotton sock, it would let at least some air in while protecting it. But we really have found it's best to let the air at it and keep it clean.

  3. She's looking much improved!

When Lou had his surgery (not an amputation but an FOE) he was solid bruising from his hips down both his legs, there are pics in my album. I used Traumeel on it where I could, and it was truly miraculous the difference - it took the swelling down and the bruising faded very quickly where I'd applied it. I would recommend the gel rather than the cream.

  4. I've had 5 hounds, 4 are still with me. My first boy Cody died, bled to death in my arms, the vet thinks he may have burst an anueryism. He was six.

We've been very fortunate here, I have 2 soon to be 11 year olds, and 2 - 8 year olds, and no cancer. However, 1 has a very suspicious swelling on his toe, he's going for an amputation of the toe on Wednesday. The only good thing about it is we know it's crossed the joint in his toe, so that means it's not OS.

  5. Thanks so much for all the greyt feedback. I know now that my gut instinct was the right instinct. When the vet is back in town next week we'll be going for a follow up, I'll see if we can go ahead and book the surgery right away, he's just had a senior panel last month which is good timing.

I'll be sure to post pre and post pics for all the Romi fans; if I know my boy he'll be back to himself pretty quickly.

I thank you, and Romi thanks you!

  6. I went to a seminar yesterday given by Dr. Jean Dodds, an expert in canine immunology and thyroid disorders. I was absolutely blown away about how many different & weird symptoms there can be with hypothyroidism. I'm so glad you've nailed it down, that seems to be half the battle.

If you ever get a chance to attend one of her seminars, you should really consider going. She was a very good speaker, and the seminar was worth every cent.
