  1. Zema had hers hulled. It kept coming back. Rather than surgically remove it and have to stitch the pad, my vet hulled it one last time -- the Grasmere way -- and then just barely touched the hulled surface with a laser. Under anaesthesia since she won't hold still for laser sorts of things :lol . But. This has kept her corn G.O.N.E. since January, no risk of infection, no recovery time except from the anaesthetic.

Well, now you've got me thinking...wonder if my vet has a laser...

  2. We have not done the surgical route here, due to the fact that very few people seem to have good results with it. I hull and dremel, once it took a long while for them to come back, and I thought they were gone for good, but no such luck. I continue to dremel, hull when needed, and use therapaws on hard surfaces.

  3. I had an episode like that with Bailey this past year. We never really figured out what happened, the best guess from the vet was that he had something stuck in his throat and was trying to clear it by alternatively throwing up and eating things. He tried to eat a stick, my jacket, a plastic bag, just as you describe. The vet wanted us to wait a bit then explore surgically if it did not resolve on it's own. It did resolve on it's own, after about 24-36 hrs, but it was scarey while it lasted.

  4. Sounds like a good start for Bodie, here's hoping he responds well and is with you a long long time.

For your kitty, we have had great sucess treating small wounds like you describe right at home. I flush the wound 3x a day with saline solution and iodine(sterile, you can use the stuff made for contact lenses if you want) and I put preparation H (yes, really lol) on the wound morning and night to help it close. I usually cover wounds during the day, and leave them open at night but of course with a cat, you may have to keep it covered a lot more. We've saved a ton in vet bills using this method on both the cats and the dogs.
