Thanks everyone! We are loving every minute of this girl being here. Gracie only lived about 2 miles from us and several people have commented to Chris on Facebook that they have previously met Gracie while she was out on her walks. When her Mom was not able to walk her any longer, one of the neighbors took her for a daily walk, so she is somewhat of a Sun City Celebrity.
As she should be, a beauty queen!
An unhappy journey for Grace, and unexpected opportunity for you, a blessing for all. She really has the right name, doesn't she?

In the prayer for the death of a beloved pet, I am particularly struck by "As we remember (pet’s name), may we love each other more dearly. May we care for all Your creatures, for every living thing, as we protected the blessed life of (pet’s name)."
Isn't that what they teach us? To love wholly, to forgive, to appreciate the unique traits in another, and to cherish others' and our own short lives?

They might be getting along, but is that because the cat makes the rules and the greyhound complies? One of them definitely looks like they’re in charge in this (fabulous) series of pictures!
Can't a sweet black houndie get a whole lap to himself??? Such a sweet, sweet boy.

That tail! That says it all.

How perceptive and generous she is. She knows exactly who needs a little hound time in their lives.

So glad she's through it and home again. As Ducky says, I'm sure teeth are overrated.

Jealous! I miss New England falls and their spectacular foliage.
Me, too. I was going to put up my autumn flag with leaves on it but it just seemed a little silly in SW Florida.

I thought I might be ready to leave a remembrance. Nope. Maybe next month.
Yep. Still waiting...

I think a good visual might include a flexi leash and a garbage can.

AnniEE looks so blessedly comfy, I'd have delayed box opening so as not to disturb her.

Something about that picture makes me wonder how the parents reacted when Annie read Jackie Collins to the kids. Just wondeirng....
I was wondering the same thing.

I love those pictures of your beautiful hounds.
I always brought back houndie goodies from the buffet.

Milo and Gelsey, I'm sorry, but this is your own fault. It's time to start over with training basics, and remember to use positive reinforcement only with your human so she doesn't show you her teeth or soil your beds.

I don't know what makes me more jealous, sweet cuddling houndies or weather cool enough to snuggle.

Hi! We just moved to the Hudson Valley area of NY state a month ago, and think our girl is really missing greyhound play dates with the local greyhound community from back home. She doesn’t really care for other dogs truth be told, but she seems to enjoy playing with other greyhounds.
Is there anyone in this area who would be open to occasional play dates or has any suggestions for places to take our girl for fun? The local dog parks scare us a bit since we’ve had multiple neighbors tell us their dogs have been attacked there.
Thanks for any tips!We just moved FROM the Hudson Valley. Sadly, there are no close greyhound adoption groups (and one sorta close one you don't want to deal with). I did make a greyhound friend via this very forum so good luck.
By the way Mercury said the MidHudson Bridge is delicious.

My Mercury had no interest in long walks. We used to do them and then, his arthritis kicked up so we scaled way way back. Very soon, we went from 5 mile walks to short walks for him and a run for me. He was perfectly happy to have a short time outdoors to take care of business and then, park himself on the couch, monopolize the remote, and demand couch service.
