look at her with her ball!

This! Such a happy girl who knew she landed exactly where she was meant to be, with people who understood what she needed and gave her patience and love. I'm just so sorry she couldn't stay longer.

Sending big hugs to the House of Duck.

I do carry a small rug gripper mat when we go to the vet and throw under the bed.  I just have to remember to take it. It's really the only place we've had an issue with the floor being too slippery for the bed. Hotels etc are usually carpeted and no problem with slipping. Thanks!

Don, we have these under one of the dog beds that slips if someone flops on it too enthusiastically (cough*Willa*cough). The sticky side goes against the bottom of the bed, but on the floor side they work more by suction than by adhesion, so they won't stick too firmly to the vet's floor. Then you don't have to remember to pack anything extra!

    NOW, with no further ado...

    She is doing so well!
ONLY thing not back to "normal" is she isn't going up the big set of stairs, even though she can physically.
So we are still having to carry her up at night.

She's still ahead of Willa, who has literally never even seen our upstairs! :lol

We did scans every other chemo appointment, and now we're on a three-month schedule, which is great. I get to space my panic attacks further apart! :P

Little nervous about this one since we have the scan.

She is doing so well though!

I get it. I'm petrified every time Willa has x-rays. And then totally elated when they're clear. I'm glad Amelia's still doing so well! That's what matters.

  5. The fact that you're asking at all is a good thing! Yes, you need to keep them leashed and under your control even in a regular park setting (you can use a longer leash in a slipknot around your wrist). Even on a restaurant patio (you can secure the leash to your chair). Even to walk the 15 feet from the driveway to the front door.

Our UK friends are generally a little more relaxed about this, and if the dog has perfect recall that's their prerogative. I know my dogs don't have that kind of recall and other people's dogs are often :crazy so personally I wouldn't risk it in anything but exceptional circumstances.* Even if they don't run 9 times out of 10, it only takes one time to end badly.

    * I let mine off-leash to run on a secluded, dog-friendly beach in November because 1) it was a small island with dunes on one side and ocean on the other, and 2) it was the off-season and there was literally no one else on the beach. One hound ran for a bit at full speed, then took a hard left directly into the ocean. The other hound took a hard right into the dunes. Both were fine, but it just goes to show: common sense—they don't have much! I didn't do it again.

Often times on Facebook I see people reacting to a photo posted by its owner. They say he or she "looks just like my greyhound!"  I admit to reading those comments with an eye roll beause of course you'll see another greyhound that looks like your own online, given the color combos for greyhounds.

But now I am one of those people.

I have always wondered my my first greyhound Gracie  (Dusty Lady), would have looked like as a puppy.  Thanks to your Poppy photos, I finally know.  :beatheart

So funny and so true. I literally just told Jan today that Poppy looks like a Baby Sweep to me, although Poppy's a little redder. And then Cindy posted Zeke pics and *he* reminded me of Sweep (but with Willa's personality) :brokenheart. We all might be a little obsessed with our dogs.

  7. Just wanted to add a quick update that we started Doolin on Prozac last week. Our vet said it's the thing she's seen the most success with, including with her former colleague's umpteen greyhounds over the years. His prescription is for 20mg and we started him on 10mg the first few days to lessen any side effects. So far, so good in that department, but no miracles for the anxiety yet. We know it'll take a few weeks (and yesterday's weather was not helpful), so we're still hopeful this will do the trick. We're also taking him to the vet Tuesday for bloodwork just to make sure there's nothing physiological contributing. I'll keep you all posted on our progress. Thanks again.

  8. :banana We only ever needed nausea meds for Doxorubicin, not Carboplatin. Sounds like Amelia is handling it all like the champ she is.

Please keep the good news coming! We need as much as we can get after Cindy lost her boy Zeke today to this horrid disease. Six years old. :cry1
