  1. I found chicken qtrs at Walmart so picked up 20 lbs. He had one last night and loved it :yay

I am going to give the pork necks just once a week or when I need him to stay busy. I gave him 2 chunks on Sat and it took him an hour to eat them both.

  2. I bought 50 lbs of pork neck bones so they should last me a while, I guess :lol

These look like more bone than meat.

I'm going to order chicken quarters and just give a pork neck once every few days or when I have time to sit and watch him eat it.

  3. I've done my research, talked to people feeding raw, joined a few yahoo raw groups and now ready to jump in. Actually, jumped in last Sunday :lol

A friend gave me a spreadsheet that she uses, to help me calculate how much to feed of what, etc.

Here's just one day for example:

Pork Neck 22.46 Grnd Trky 12.10 Kidney 1.73

    These are oz

I picked up pork neck bones at the grocery story. I weighed them out, and bagged for a day and some bags are 3-4 hunks.

My question is, these seem more bone than meat (his poop is normal already for RAW, crumbly) but I'm worried he's not getting enough meat.

Also, it takes him forever to eat just 1 hunk - like 20 minutes. I don't have time to watch him while he eats this in the morning but it would take him an hour at night to eat 4-5 hunks.

I'm thinking of giving him a chicken quarter instead of the pork necks and see if that is quicker for him to eat.

  4. I called his neuro yesterday morning and she called me on her drive home last night (I love my vets!!)

She said to give it another week or I can bring him in for blood work now.

It would be too hard to lower the dose of keppra so she suggests lowering the zoni. I won't do that since he had a seizure the last time we tried to lower it 50mg.

He's taking the other pills perfectly again after I shove the keppra down his throat.

  5. Thunder doesn't like the keppra pill and spits it out. He's been the easiest dog I've ever pilled. I normally just throw the pills in his mouth, give him a treat and he eats them. Now he's spitting out all 5 pills. I don't need advice on pilling, just feel bad he has to have so many damn pills. He's taking them fine now- just have to shove the keppra down his throat before throwing the rest of the pills in his mouth.

The keppra totally knocks him out too. He passed out on the kitchen floor after I gave it to him last night.

    Poor guy!

  6. Thunder started the Costco Keppra on Sunday. I've noticed that he doesn't need to pee right away when I let him out like he used to do.

Yesterday when I went home at lunch, he never peed.

This morning, he didn't pee when I let him out first thing, he only pooped. After he ate, I sent him back outside and he finally peed after about 15 minutes to standing there.

I put extra water in his kibble yesterday just in case he's not drinking enough so I would think he would have to pee right away.

He normally only pee's 2-3 times a day and when he does pee, he goes for a long time. He's not a marker at all.

Also, he just stands outside like a statue.

Trying not to freak out- but does this sound weird? I hope it's just the drug and it's a side effect and nothing worse.

One other thing, his Creatine was high (high for a hound) on June 5th so will be retesting in a few weeks. 2.1 was the result.

    edited to add:

I just remembered that he woke me up several times last night trying to puke. I don't think anything came up though.
