My first grey had grand mal seizures. The vet didn't put him on phenobarbitol right away. I had to keep a log so that he could see the pattern and frequency. It just so happened that he had a really severe seizure before he could be put on the meds. His temp went up to 107 and he was in hospital for two days but made a complete recovery much to the surprise of the vet. They were most concerned with brain damage due to the high temp but he was just as normal as ever. Once on the meds he never had another seizure but eventually at the age of 8 developed liver problems and passed away. But the meds totally took care of the seizures. I wish you and your girl all the best as you figure this all out.

Both of mine sleep in my bedroom. Ranger sleeps on his bed on the floor. Tracy sleeps with me when it cold but sleeps on her bed when it's warmer. I have a baby gate up so they can't go downstairs during the night and get into trouble.

I couldn't find the original thread on GT either but I think I saw the kind of sling you are looking for on k9caddie.com. It has the fleece lining and appears to be pretty wide which should be more comfortable. Hope that helps.

When I adopted my first grey, Rowdy, he was a bounce coming from a home he had shared with an IG. He had allot of trouble adjusting to being alone while I worked and about 7 months after I got him I adopted a second. Tracy was also a bounce coming from a home she shared with another grey. Having her in the house really helped Rowdy. When Rowdy passed Tracy did just fine on her own, it was me that really needed to have a second hound. I have a small townhouse, 1,000 square feet but there is no problem having two big dogs. They just take the couch and I have the chair. I think it really just depends on the dog and believe that some are perfectly fine being the only dog. Good luck and I'm sure your adoption group will pick the right dog for you.

All of mine have been chipped. Our adoption group microchips all their dogs and the new owners are required to activate the chip.

Wow! I guess it varies with different vets but my girl Tracy went in for her dental last month and while she was under the vet removed a small growth from beside her eye. All of that, including the bloodwork and antibiotics, was only $400. $459 seems hight to me for a routine dental cleaning.

You might try putting a baby bootie on his back paw. Ranger had stitches on his left shoulder at the perfect angle for him to scratch. I put a baby bootie on his paw so that at least if he tried to scratch he wouldn't catch the stitches with his nails. It worked wonderfully and he never eve tried to scratch. Don't know if it's because the baby bootie felt weird or what be he left it alone.

I use hot dogs for my two. I tried peanut butter but the both figured out how to lick it off the pill and then spit out the pill. The hot dog is something they rarely get so when I put a pill in it they've swallowed it before they realize there is medicine in it.

We don't have a fenced yard so my two get 4-5 walks a day. They get a 20-30 minute walk in the morning and after I get home from work. A shorter walk when I come home for lunch and then just quick "potty breaks" before bed. The walks are always interesting with a 4 year old boy and 12 year old girl. My male, Ranger does really good with slowing his pace to match my senior girl plus she's much smaller than he is and her stride isn't as long as his.
