  1. I have had a 57 pound male, a 77 pound female, a 78 pound male and a 65 pound female. Never had any control issues when walking them. My newest girl does have a bit of a prey drive especially around little dogs but i haven't had any times when I felt I wasn't in control or would be pulled off my feet.

Greyhounds tend to walk nice on a leash. You see people being dragged by dogs all the time in the pet stores, the greys may pull because they want to see their friends but walking around the stores they are well mannered.

  2. Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Luka's passing. I am taking the day off as I do not want to be sitting at my desk crying. I just still can't wrap my head around the fact that he is really gone. I never would have guessed that morning that I would be setting him free in a few hours.

This time last year he was still with me.

I am talking to my animal communicator Monday evening. I am curious if he still comes to the house and sees me still profoundly sad at his passing.

I will spend a lifetime missing my sweet, sweet boy.

I know my boy Carter misses him too. But he is an awesome brother to my new girl Neko. He learned from the best, my baby Luka.

Rest well my love, I look forward to the day you coming running back into my arms. This time I will never let you go.

  3. So sorry you had to say goodbye.

You gave her one final gift of love.

Hurts like hell for you but sweet relief for her.

Run free sweet baby and know you are loved and missed by all who were lucky enough to have you in their life.

  4. My Luka's nick name was lucky boy. Every time he got a cut it sore he would kick the spot until it was 10 times bigger. I would have to put a muzzle with a poop guard on especially at night. He could drink with it on but not eat.

When I talked with my animal communicator I told him if he stopped licking he wouldn't have to wear his muzzle. He said he didn't care if he wore it.

After he passed he said he was always licking because he felt vibrations in his leg and was licking to stop them. They would move up and down his leg.

My new girl has a small spot on her leg that she has been licking. At least she stops when I say leave it and isn't licking a lot.

This is a very frustrating problem.

I meant Luka's nick name was licky boy.

  5. Petra,

So sorry you had to say goodbye. She touched so many lives and will be missed by all who loved her.

Hugs and greyhound kisses from Jan, Carter and Neko

  6. Me too. Big fans of Fresh Factors and Joint Health. One day, a few years ago I was working a meet and greet and someone asked their dog trainer about joint supplements. After she walked away I told them about Springtime Naturals and the greyhound community loved them.

I emailed the company and told them that I recommend their products at my adoption events. I included a photo of my Luka and Peace.

A few days later I received a letter in the mail from Springtime. It was from the President of the company. He thanked me for recommending their products. He asked if he could use the photo I emailed to them in their next catalog and include my letter. I was so tickled that my kids would be in their catalog.

Then he writes I would like to show my appreciation and give you a $500 credit on your account. I could not believe it!Talk about generous.

My kids are no longer in the catalog but they are on their web site under testimonials for either Combos or Fresh Factors , I cant remember which one.

    I love this company.

  7. So sorry your sweet boy had to leave you. I know and feel your pain. I lost my heart hound Luka suddenly this January. Never in a million years would I have guessed I would lose him that day.

I miss him with every breath I take. I can't believe our journey together is over.

Talk to you boy. He can hear you. Ask him for a sign to let you know he is OK. Give him a few days to get settled in at the Bridge.

I hope you find peace in your memories of your time together. And know you are not alone. We all grieve for all the hounds who have left this earth.

    Hugs,

    Jan, Carter and Neko
