No - it doesn't. I asked my vet the question yesterday when I needed to give Darcy some painkillers but she had an upset stomach and she'd not eaten,

Oooh joy - Ned has joined in.
He too shall see the vet this afternoon.

Yesterday was some day. We had to take Ella (Westie) to see an orthopedic surgeon to find out why she is limping. It's a three hour round trip so we went, had the consultation, left her there and came home for 10am. When we got back, we found that Darcy had...been unwell from both ends and was just......covered. After a clean-up procedure we took her in to our own vet and she had 2 injections (AB's and anti sickness) and we brought her home. She settled down OK. Then we went to collect Ella from the specialists (who had taken xrays....and a bone biopsy from her hip but I swear, I am not even allowing myself to think anything other than bone infection and we just have to sit and wait for the results). Got back about 7.30pm. By 9.30pm Darcy looked really poorly again (with no sickness but with the Big D) so we took her in at 10pm and she was put on a drip.
I've just phoned to see how she is (it's 10.30am here) and she's not been sick or had big D and she's stopped panting. I will speak to the vet again later to find out if we can bring her home this afternoon/evening.
Meanwhile, overnight, Poppy felt unwell and although she hasn't been sick or had big D, she's clearly feeling sorry for herself. As I type she is covered with a big blanket on the settee and she is going in to see the vet this afternoon.
Any and all good thoughts appreciated for my gang.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. It's much better to do it now whilst she's healthy rather than risk her developing pyometra and having to do it as an emergency when she is extremely poorly.

I don't suppose it really matters what sort of dog it's for but this is to do with Ella, our 3 year old Westie.
When she was 5 months old, she was diagnosed with LEGG-PERTHES DISEASE and at 7 months, she had a femoral head and neck excision (rear left leg). She's never had any problems with the leg since and has run and walked normally - up until about 5 weeks ago.
At this point, we noticed that she was limping, so we rested her for a day or two but she still limped and occassionally held the leg right off the ground. The vet examined her and advised a weeks rest and some Rimadyl. She seemed to be OK for a while after that but then she started again so on Tuesday of last week, she had xrays done. My vet showed me the xrays and said the knee looks fine but there looked to be some 'loss of bone density' and she pointed out an area down one of the long bones. She send the xrays off to an orthopedic specialist centre and we are waiting for their report. I've phoned twice to hurry them along because Ella seems worse than ever. She's pretty much fine in herself but for the past couple of days, she's basically behaving like a tripod and carrying that leg totally
Other than the obvious (which would be really, really, really bad luck in a small breed dog - wouldn't it? ) what else can cause loss of bone density? And does anyone have experience of such a thing and any treatments?

Poppy doesn't have laryngeal paralysis nor esophageal reflux but she does have trachial collapse (which I originally thought was the same as LP but it's not) Anyway, she was put onto a bronchiodilator drug back in May and it seems to have made a really big difference. Might it be worth asking the vet about that?

Yay!! Maybe I can give her a great big hug in PERSON soon!!!
Are you planning a trip??!
heheheheheh! Looks like we'll probably be in your area (Hebden Bridge, which we think is about 45 minutes from you?) in November for a few nights... and thought we'd maybe pop down, if that's OK!!! Have to visit all my FAVORITE Doyle doggies & meet all the NEW ones!! Probably around Nov. 9-10 give or take a few days.
fab When you have a certain date, let me know

The dogs are definately used to party foods so it's not that. Plus the party was on Friday - plus they really didn't eat that much compared to what they've had at other times.
Ned and Poppy both had temps of 103 (which is a degree higher than Darcys was yesterday). Both have had AB injections and Ned has come home with tablets to start tomorrow. Poppy has stayed at the vets for fluids because she refuses to drink (she's always like this when she's ill). Darcy can come home at 6.30pm.
Eeeeeee. Isn't this fun
