  1. I would think that you could ask your current Vet to intervene & talk to AC. He's been under constant observation by a Vet for several days. That should hold some weight.
  2. Nevada took a bad "a$$ over teakettle" spill once at the dog park. She got up & continued to run. Luckily my friend, her Vet, was there & looked her over right away. She was fine. It was one of those spills where everyone gasps. She was sore the next day, but none worse for the experience. I often wonder though if that was not the cause of her back issue at the end of her life....
  3. Don't I know it! Ditto, I tried it one summer, that was enough. Unless you've experienced the heat here, you just can't appreciate what hot is, and in the summer, it doesn't cool down in the evenings. I'm from New England and remember that humidity, but it still can't compare with 115-118 everyday But Claudia....it's a DRY HEAT! For those who have never been to the southwest......it's already in the 90's in the very early morning & does not cool down at night. I'd suggest getting a lawn service who will do the job on Saturdays or when you are home. I don't trust anyone.
  4. Believe me.....using a reel mower here in the summer in Arizona is setting yourself up for heat stroke!
  5. I also tried Anipry for Nevada. It didn't work unfortunately. She did very well with the Lysodren for about 3 years.
  6. I can tell you from a human perspective-I'm a nurse & use to work with patients with external fixators. Pin cleaning was not fun for the patients-especially for the first wek after surgery. Very tender. We use to pre-medicate our patients at least a half hour before cleaning time. Perhaps you can do the same for your pup? It seemed to get easier as the tracks healed around the pins. Best wishes to you....
  7. My Nevada had Cushings. We treated with Mitotane (Lysodren). It's a difficult journey....
  8. Just checking to see if "all systems are go?"
  9. I know your under enough stress as it is and I don't mean to scare you unnecessarily but leaving the gate open so your dogs get out could be something this guy is doing on purpose. Your dogs serve as a warning to you if someone comes around your house, I imagine especially at night. Men rape woman not for the pleasure but more for having a sense of power over them. The fact that he urinated on your house outside your window almost sounds like he is trying to mark your house. I would call the lawn service company and ask them what kind of background check they do on their employees. Please be very careful. I'm so sorry Emmy got hurt. I hope her feet heal up quickly. Thank you - let me be more clear about my service. It's a small Hispanic company that was hired by everyone on my cul-de-sac to mow the front lawns so it's not just me using them. I'm the only one who has a backyard lawn so hence the problem. They guy who peed on my house was a kid maybe mid to late teens so I'm not too worried about him. I think this is a summer job for him and where he went is in a dark corner under a tree so no one on the street would have seen him. I'm just tired right now and have to figure out what to do on Thursdays. Either I have to be home or my Dad said he would pick her up and keep her with him during the day which is the most likely scenario. I'd either keep her with your Dad or have them do the lawn on Saturdays's when you're home.
  10. I agree with AJ....also watch for passing gas. That's a good sign that all systems are functioning.

Very sorry for your loss. It's beautiful that he was able to cross to the bridge in a place where he was so loved.....
  12. Are you sure that they are not testing for Cushings?
  13. Nevada had something like that once. Her's continued to grow & she had to have it removed. I got pretty big.....so watch it to see if it does anything.
  14. Let me tell you from my personal human experience with VF meds......I had to take them twice a day. And twice a day, several hours post medication ingestion, I was puking my guts out! My Doc told me that it comes with the territory taking these meds. They also cause some abdominal pain/discomfort. I've always said, for me, the treatment for VF was worse than the disease....It was a rough road.
  15. Good thoughts for Sadie girl. Tell baby girl that I've been on those same meds & I know it's not fun......GO AWAY Valley Fever!!
  16. A friends Lasa pup just had the bladder stone surgery done & did very well. A little short term incontinence, but no other problems. Best wishes....
  17. Just a thought.....maybe Flashy is not interested in eating due to the stress around him? They react to the way others around them are feeling etc. I know that you can't help that right now, but I wonder if that is the cause?? Hugs to you all...
  18. My Vet gave Nevada an IV sedative first. She was completely asleep when she received the final injection. A very peaceful process for us both.
  19. I've only owned a female. Nevada was very laid back, but a real character. She was the ultimate love-bug & velcro dog. I can't imagine another any sweeter....
  20. WOW! He looks wonderful! How about stuffing the Kongs with low calorie treats like greenbeans & other veggies or frozen yogurt? I use to play a game with Nevada called "Mr Hand." I'd hide my hand inside a bed sheet & she loved to try and find & bite on "Mr Hand". It's a game you can play with no running involved.
