According to the Earthborn Holistic website for Primitive Nature, they recommend 2.25-2.75 cups per day for a 55 pound dog. They do not recommend free-feeding.

 

It's best to feed twice a day. Most people here do not free feed. Put the food down and give 15 minutes or so to finish. If it's not gone, take it up and don't offer food again until the next meal. With less food and schedule, she will be fine. Four cups of that food is way too much for such a little girl

I'm glad you got a diagnosis and it's not the dreaded O. I've no experience but I'm sure others will chime in and will be of help in you making your decision about treatment. A friend is doing rehab with her senior greyhound right now for a disc problem in his lower back and it is expensive.
