Guest BeakerBoy
Beaker's skin has been really dry this winter, which I suppose isn't surprising, given how cold it's been in Minneapolis this season! Does anyone have any tips on how to address this? I feel like I've heard of olive oil mixed in with food as a solution, but has anyone tried that? If so, how much do you give? Or if anyone has other ideas, I'm open to them. Thanks!
JohnF
They need Vitamin E either from food or you can give quality fish oils. If the dog is OK with gluten then you can give 1/2 tsp of Wheatgerm oil per day on the food and expect to see improvement after about a week. a_daerr
Fish oil. I've been using generic human-grade fish oil capsules from Wal-Mart, and they work fine. But you can get salmon oil or other comparable fish oil from the pet store or online.
TINMANPDX
I give mine salmon oil - it can be purchased in a pump bottle or soft gels. It has kept their fur soft and dandruff free, and I have read it is good for their joints. I give them one soft gel with their morning and evening meal, or if I am using the pump kind, a pump or two per meal. They love the taste of it too. Guest undergreysspell
I give fish oil capsules along with a drizzle of olive oil on the kibble.
Walliered
How long should you wait after surgery to give them fish oil?
