Man, Riverhound! I'm jealous LOL!

So, it sounds like all in all our vet is in the same ballpark. Hopefully he will get in there and see that it's just a lot of build up and no extractions are needed. That would sure be nice :)

Yowwza - I think I need to move!

William had a dental last month - 2.5 years since his last one, and even with our brushing daily the vet was liberal in taking out any bad teeth that couldn't be saved (30 in all!!) and granted, he was a dental specialist, but still, my price was far into the 4-figures... I know that was mostly with the high number of extractions, and of course he's better for it, but I'd say anything in the hundred range sounds pretty good in comparison!

138.00 in Grand Rapids, Michigan for a full dental, bloodwork and 12 extractions. There's no extra charge for the extractions.

That is an amazingly low price!

I thought my low cost vet was inexpensive. There it is $75-$112 for the dental, plus $15 to $50 for the bloodwork, plus $25-$35 for IV fluids. It costs extra for extractions and antibiotics. So a total (without extractions or antibiotic injections) is $115 to $200. This is still about 1/4 to 1/3 the price of your typical vet clinic in the area.

Edited to add: If I went to the dental specialist, the price would be pushing $1000 just for cleaning. I had a young dog that broke both upper molars (chewing teeth) at 1 1/2 years old. I decided to do root canals due to her age (she is still with me at 15 years old), and the fact that I had a very good paying job. I am still happy that I did it, but it cost $2100 15 years ago at the doggie dentist.

The first several years I had Diesel. It ran $99, now all of a sudden it's in the $300+ range, and he has never had one tooth pulled and he is 12. He does have quite a bit of tarter usually.

Ava is almost twelve and hs only had two dentals since we adopted her at 18 months. I know she has a few that should be pulled now but our vet said he wouldn't do it because she has advanced spinal stenosis. She has made it past the original prognosis of lesss thn 6 months before she is paralysed. She is incontinent and requires occasional help getting to her feet. We are taking things day to day but know we will have to let her go soon. Augie just had his 1 st Gotcha day Anniversary ancouple weeks ago. I brush his teeth almost daily and use a dental rinse from our vet. He came to use with both right canines broken (he chewed his crate during SA. We ditched the crate the first night he came home but worked the corners of the coffee table off before getting adjusted to our home. The canines are still there. Should they have pulled them when he had his neuter and dental? The boy can decimate a bully stick and I never have seen any signs that it hurts him. Should I take him to a dentall specialist? He turns 5 next month.

I'd like to introduce all of you to Helping Hands AFFORDABLE Veterinary Surgery and Dental Care. Our mission is to see that no animal goes without surgery or dental care due to prohibitive high costs. We are in Richmond Va and are here to help. Our all inclusive dental (sedation, cleaning, extractions, and meds) are $155 ($198 with bloodwork). This is the price for all animals, not just Greyhounds. We met a lot of you at Greyhounds Rock Fredricksburg and many told us to post here to let all of you know we are here to make surgery and dental care more affordable. See our web site for a list of our all inclusive fees. www.helpinghandsvetva.com
