Guest Lovey_Hounds
*** UPDATE*** so we had a check up and more x-rays done, the vet could not see anything jumping right out at her but she is going to send the x-rays off to a local specialist and she is going to do a sit down with a few other vets in the clinic and take a better look. I have emailed the x-rays off to dr couto, so hopefully someone can shed some light on what is going on with his leg. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vegas Hurt his leg sept 25th while lure coursing, we had it X-rayed and the vet did not see a break or osteo or anything bone related. We know he hurt some muscles and stuff but so far he isnt using his leg much ore than when he hurt it, a lump has developed on the inside on the hock joint and the joint doesnt have full mobility I know it takes a bit for a muscle injury to heal up but the bump is making me very uncomfortable and i want to make sure everything is ok. he seems to ok getting around with reduced use of the leg but im scared there is something else going on so we are going in to get everything re-checked. here are some pictures of his leg from different angles.... the bump doesnt look good. does anyone know how i would go about having the x-ray sent to dr couto? i would like him or one of his team to take a look at it. OwnedBySummer
The most straightforward way: Photograph the X-ray while it's up on the light box (they photograph really well with a decent camera) and then attach it to an email to Dr. Couto's office. If Dr. Couto then wants the actual X-ray, you can deal with that next. Quote Lisa B. TheFullHouse
Is the lump hard or soft? It looks like it's above the bone from those angles which would make me wonder if it was a muscle tear. It looks like it's above the bone from those angles which would make me wonder if it was a muscle tear. The bump is hard with some swelling on top, it doesnt move when pushed/poked it does stick out about 1- 1/2 inches... there is a chance that it is only a muscle injury but i need to make sure thats all it is. Can someone send me the contact info for dr couto??? thanks

Burpdog
How odd. Huston is at the vets as we speak having the exact same lump xrayed. He injured it doing laps in the backyard 3 weeks ago. I'll let you know what my vet says. Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits

Guest grey_dreams
Zuki has a lump like that but on the joint of his front left leg. My vet examined it and said it was probably some kind of flexion injury. Zuki was limping, and especially badly after running. I started giving him glucosamine + chondroitin, and now he never limps even after running. I don't know if the lump will ever go away or decrease in size. It doesn't seem to bother Zuki now since he's been getting the supplement. Hope Vegas gets better soon.
