robinw
Last month I changed Phene's and Treasure's food to Holistic Select Chicken and Rice from California Natural Chicken and Rice. Although I feed them more of the Holistic Select then I did California Natural, today a friend noticed that they look like they've lost weigh, and I agree. The same thing happened last year when I tried changing food. Is it normal for a dog to lose weight when the food is changed? Should their weight increase once their bodies get used to it? Does anybody have any suggestions besides maybe increasing the amount I feed them? thanks Quote Xavi the galgo and Peter the cat. Batmom
You'll probably have to feed them more. Do the two foods give kcal/cup on the bag or on the website? When I looked at the Holistic Selects, I thought they were quite low in calories but it's been several years and they could have changed. PatricksMom
FYI to whoever, also don't make my mistake, recheck the calorie counts if your food changes its recipe, that can also affect calorie counts. If possible, monthly weighins can help you monitor the situation. Edited August 6, 2010 by PatricksMom Quote Beth, Petey (8 September 2018- ), and Faith (22 March 2019).
