Guest LittleGreys
Munchie has been limping, and it is getting progessively worse, so today we are headed to Pittsburgh to see an orthopedist. I had my vet check her again on Monday, and she is very concerned that there is now muscle atrophy in that leg. If you could spare some good thoughts for my baby girl, we sure would appreciate it!! Guest LittleGreys
Thanks so much for all the good thoughts. The Dr seems to think it is stemming from her immune mediated polyarthritis, which she has had for several years. He looked at xrays of most of her joints, and unfortunately, they are all pretty bad. He said there is no cartilage left, it is bone on bone. He said if it was isolated to one joint, he could treat it, but not all of them. He said it is a matter of how long we are willing to treat her (which is forever!!) and how long we can keep her comfortable. This Dr has never seen her before, and I still think there is something else going on the right front leg that the IMPA is masking. He was more concerned with the IMPA, he said he could not localize anything to the right front. So she is back on heavy duty steroids and azathioprine, which she has had before and did not do well on, but we are going to try it again at a lower dose. My girl is tough, I think once we get the IMPA under better control, she will do a lot better.
Guest trevdog
Poor thing, sorry to hear Munchie is having such a tough time again. She's such a little fighter too. She's been through a lot in her young life. My group sends lots of good thoughts and licks to her....
