fourofem Posted January 6, 2009 Share Posted January 6, 2009 It was a long weekend for my boy but today he really started looking like he was feeling better...not a lot, but some. Three of his pads are still looking a bit raw and this morning he was tracking a little bit of blood. We just went out a few minutes ago and no blood this time!!! I can see where they're starting to heal but he's still pretty tender on those feet. My other three kids were feeling a little neglected so I took them out this afternoon for some play time. All of a sudden, there was Lewis standing on the stoop....he actually came out through the dog door! His new ramp is a big help fbut I don't think he's quite figured out that he has to walk around the deck to get back up. I just stay beside him and get him heading in the right direction. Stel and Hitch have it nailed but poor Lizzie is still confused...she goes down fine but coming up is a different story. She usually decides to jump up from the deck to the ramp rather than going around. I was going to take a picture of the new ramp today but the battery in my camera was dead. I have it charging now so hopefully you will all get to see it tomorrow! My cousin's husband (cousin-in-law?) and brother-in-law did quite a job! Back to Lewis....I've kept him on his regular dose of pain meds, along with the antibiotic and keeping those pads clean, Neosporined and covered. It seems to be working. He sleeps most of the time which is good...it keeps him off his feet. He's eating and drinking fine. This whole ordeal has taken my mind off of his osteo....I supposed that will settle back in shortly. A day at a time....right? Pink and yellow were the choices so that's what we have. He was fussy about keeping them on at first but now he doesn't mind them at all. Bloo and Lewis....silly boys.
