I think she smacked her face on the doggie door somehow. holli and I were scared out of our minds. I called the vet...she said to put ice pack or cold water on the bridge to stop the bleeding if it doesnt stop go in. well right now its stopped.. Anyone else have experience with this.. What a horrible thing to see that blood just running out of the nose. Neighsayer
Tucker gets nosebleeds. He got one just after I brought him home and I took him to the vet because it wouldn't stop. Of course, it stopped before we got there! I use a cold washcloth soaked in very cold water. Keep one on ice to replace the one you have on the nose so you don't have periods of warm nose between changes. Noses DO bleed A LOT! Try to keep calm so she remains calm. Greys4Us
Not to alarm you, but you may need to look into a possible tick borne disease. Ehrlichiosis will cause bleeding and nose bleeds are a possibility. It only takes a blood test to diagnose it. We lost a greyhound to Ehrlichiosis and this was one of the symptoms. Guest Pipi5
My norwegian elkhound Sadie had a nose bleed, her blood stopped coagulating...she ended up getting 5 pints of blood. I've also read, and not to scare you but you want honesty, that sometimes a nose bleed can be a sign of hermangio sarcoma... I would watch her for now & then if it happens again, off to the vet. My vet said it could be that what started Sadie's was a smack on the nose, which a couple of days before she did smack her face on the coffee table. Guest LindsaySF
It might be nothing, or it might be a clotting disorder, etc. I agree with testing for TBD's.

Guest crazy4greys
Not to upset you either, but another thing to check for, is a tumor. It probably isn't but it might be worth asking your vet about. I hope everything is okay

Guest wmlcml6
I would worry too much, unless she's got a cough and/or lots of mucous coming out of her nose with the blood. That could mean pneumonia or kennel cough. I just had a racer with pneumonia. He never coughed, but it was as if someone turned on a mucous faucet one morning and forgot to turn it off. ewww. (He's 100% fine now.) Miss Storm, you have a beautiful nose. Please be careful and don't bop it anymore (if that's what happened).
