macoduck Posted June 29, 2008 Share Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) Last Monday Gracie was scratched by a cat. The claw caught Gracie's lower eyelid making a rip about a 1/2 " long. Not deep but it did get the "wet" part of that lower lid. Vet said her cornea was not scratched and he gave her Neobacimyx (bacitracin-neomycin-polymyxin) ointment. It looked like she was healing but today I noticed something on the underside of her upper lid that resembles a stye. She's not fussing with it. The rest of the tissue and eye look OK. If it doesn't improve she'll be at the vet on Monday. In the meantime, I'm wondering about antibiotics. I have on hand Cephalexin 500mg. Would it be OK to give her this to help stave off an infection? Would using this compromise using a different antibiotic the vet might issue on Monday? Have you ben using a warm compress. Oh, and don't let her share your makeup.
