cello
My friends' 14 year old female Greyhound has been diagnosed with Glomerular Disease. Her albumin and protein levels are both very low. Does anyone have any ideas on a palatable home made low protein diet to feed her? She has lost weight, but is starting to eat again, and they want to give her food that will entice her to eat and keep the weight on. She is a very sweet girl, and her owners want to make her as happy as possible. Good tasting food will go a long way on that count. Thanks in advance for any help that GT can give this special girlie. Carol Ann Quote Molly Weasley Carpenter-Caro - 6 Year Old Standard Poodle. Burpdog
At 14 I'd feed her whatever she wants! This diet is not too bad for protein: 5# beef, chicken or turkey 5# potatoes, boiled with skins on, then mashed 2C rice boiled with 4C water 1T garlic 2# green beans Boil beef and let cool, put thru food processor. Cook green beans, put thru food processor. Mix all together and add 1t cod liver oil and 1t sterlized bone meal to each feeding. Regular feeding amount around 4C. This will usually last 3-4 days. Guest ss556
Alan has that. there are many places to get recipes. Alan won't eat potatoes or veggies, so Burpdog's recipe won't cut it in my house. http://www.naturalcanine.com/html/kidney_diet.html http://www.dogaware.com/kidney.html#protein I hope the above can help (and that it works).
