Guest scfilby
This morning after the morning let out, Mickey came in with her dew claw nail nearly torn off and bleeding everywhere. She must have caught it on something, but we can't find what.. Possibly the fence, but we did not hear anything at all. THe vet said it looked like it was caught somewhere and she had been tugging to get it free.. The only vet in the area is not experienced with Greys, but he did know about their special needs.. He had to put her under to remove the dew claw nail and cauterize the toe.. When I said I was worried about the anesthesia, he explained that he was aware that Greys need much less than other dogs, and he would be very carefull.. Mickey was done the procedure by 3:00, and when we went to pick her up at 5:00 she was up and about and wanting to play. All excited to see us, and seems like to ill effects. She is resting now, and panting some, but I think that is more from the stress of the car ride (she is terrified of car rides) then anything else. She has a bandaged paw and horse pills to take for the next few days.. They say the nail will grow back fine.. We've had Mickey for almost three years and this is the fist time she has had to have anesthesia.. it was scary after all the things I've read.. We are so relieved.
