win4profit
So while we were at the vet yesterday, they drew some blood for a heartworm test. Since Logan was already laying down, they drew the blood from his back leg. The blood was drawn from the outside of the hind leg and it bruised immediately. Today, the inside of that leg is bruised and fluid filled. The poor guy just can't get a break. Is there something I can do for him?

Guest greyvettech
Poor guy...they should have just used his cephalic vein on his front leg...Lateral and Medial saphinis veins seem to leave bruising esp on greys.....It should not be fluid filled though..that is concerning... I would keep him restricted in activity for the next couple days..they probably gave him a hematoma because they moved the needle why it was under his skin....this will heal within a couple days.... They took it from his back leg because his front leg has a big lump that had just been aspirated. They definitely moved the needle about because they were hardly getting any blood. I will put a warm compress on it tonight for a little while. Thx
Guest BlackandBrindle
Arnica would really help and it's a mild pain reliever too. Hugs to Logan

HopeForHounds
Poor guy just cannot catch a break. I use traumeel on things like this. Did the vet give you any indication what the aspiration fluid was like?
