Anyone Use This Insurance Company?

I am looking into insurance coverage after a foster dog recently had $6,000 bill in ER :eek I researched and found a company called embrace https://quote.embracepetinsurance.com which sounded great and then HSUS sent a link to Petplan http://www.gopetplan.com/DogPlans/GoldSilverBronze.html. I know its a good idea to put money aside for emergencies but frankly if rescue hadn't covered my foster's bill it would have been very hard to pay so that sent me searching for a plan that would cover a similar situation. I found that some plans only pay up to a certain amount for each "incident" which is not what I want, the above two seem to be very good, any thoughts or experience with either one of them? Thanks anneh

Sorry, never heard of them, but if you're talking about covering fosters, most insurance companies now require veterinary paperwork before they'll cover a dog.

You don't just get an insurance policy that covers any dog you happen to take to the vet!

So if you're fostering, it might take you longer to get the coverage than you actually have the dog?

Maybe I missed something...

Oh no it would be for my own dogs, this make me realize how expensive an ER visit can be  anneh

I looked at Embrace before renewing with VPI and can't remember what it was that I didn't like...maybe the covered cost per incident or annual maximum were too low. I renewed with VPI although I haven't been thrilled with them. It's a tough decision. You might want to call each company with questions, even if you know the answers, just to check out their customer service.

My most recent complaint about VPI is that they will cover the cost of diagnostic tests (up to the allowed limit, etc.) only if my dog is found to have one of their covered conditions. So if he's found to be healthy, that's great news, but I pay for the test. And then I'm reluctant to do further testing because the insurance that I'm paying for may not reimburse me for the next test either...not exactly the peace of mind they promise when you enroll.

thanks for the input. I settled with PetPlan because they seem good and have a good per incident coverage which is what I am most concerned about. They do inflict a 30% copay if your vet sends you to a specialist but I can handle that. They were recommended by HSUS and altho Embrace seems like a nice company they are smaller and I prefer a larger company. Neither one covers regular vet visits but thats not what I want, I want help if I incur a huge vet bill especially at the ER. Thanks again anneh
