Injury?

O.K., I'm gonna ask this and hope I don't get flamed!

Two nights ago Avenger treated me to my first GSOD. I calmed him down and looked him over and found a very small scuff mark on his right shoulder. He limped a little that night and some last night. I wasn't worried because he has not whined again with it, he does his big stretch before going outside, he lays on it, folds it under him, lays it straight and it's not discolored or swollen at all. But, he is limping on it again today. So, is he just being a drama queen or should I try to get him in to the vet tomorrow? If he was in pain I would have took him to the vet yesterday but he doesn't act like it bothers him at all, just the limping.

Any advice appreciated.

Most injuries hurt worse the day after they happened, so he may not have been in any pain and if he only had a scuff on his shoulder I probably wouldn't have gone to the vet. See how he is in the morning and if it's not better see if you can get your vet to have a look at it.

I agree to give it another day unless you see swelling, he cries out in pain or stops eating. Both my guys have had muscle pulls and things like that over the years and you sort of learn to tell what's what. A bufferin or baby aspirin might help for the night.

If he is limping it hurts. Greyhounds can be pretty stoic. Friday will be day 3, I would take him to the vet. :)

Greyhound angels at the bridge- Casey, Charlie, Maggie, Molly, Renie, Lucy & Teddy. Beagle angels Peanut and Charlie. And to all the 4 legged Bridge souls who have touched my heart, thank you. When a greyhound looks into you eyes it seems they touch your very soul.

Why would anyone flame you?

But you sort of answered your own question when you say, basically, "other than limping its not bothering him." Limping means it IS bothering him!

The vet will probably just give you something for the pain and tell you to rest the dog as much as you can. Which is pretty much what you did!

These things happen.
