The Boys Are Having Bloodwork Done Tomorrow

They need senior bloodwork done so I thought I'd have tick testing done.

So what exactly should the test be testing for?

positive titers for Babesia or Ehrlichia

If you have Lyme in your area, you'd want to check for it, too.

 

RMSF -- believe you don't need that one unless you have a sick dog.

 

I'd probably wait for the other blood results before tick titer, unless you have some unexplained illnesses going on. That is the advice you would get from Ohio State, for example.

Really? Wow-I thought a titer test was something done routinely. We absolutly have Lyme, they get yeary vacs for that.

 

hmmmm, now I'm not sure what to do. We're having NO issues, I just thought since we were going....

Doesn't hurt to have it done, just an expense that usually isn't necessary unless you're having issues or you see some funky bloodwork.

 

Not sure how the Lyme vaccine relates to titers, you'd want to find that out before doing a titer. lothianjavert would probably know as one of her dogs has Lyme.
