Grey Savvy Vet Needed In Huntsville, Alabama Area

My new boy Jay and I are spending the summer in Huntsville, AL. As far as I can tell, there's not really an adoption group in the area any more. Jay's right eye has been very red for a couple of days, and I need to get it looked at as soon as possible. I don't know the vets at all here, and I worry about taking him to someone who doesn't know greys. I would prefer Huntsville, Decatur, or Athens. Any good recommendations?

I did check the list, but the closest ones were in Birmingham, which is about 90 miles from here.

I'm checking around. Do your yellow pages list any eye specialists?

I would imagine any competent vet could be trusted to look at a red eye without worrying about being "grey savvy".

Which a good vet should be able to diagnose. Pannus is not unique to greyhounds. In fact it is more common in GSD. It can be quite misleading to think you can't trust a vet because they don't see a lot of greys. That said, it is course entirely none of my business which vet you want to see so I will just quietly go away.

We purchased two copies of the new Care of the Racing & Retired Greyhound, one for us and one to give to our vet. If it helps just one Greyhound it will have been a good investment.
