  1. I am sorry for your loss. :grouphug Please be patient with yourself. You need to grieve and work through all the conlicting emotions and thoughts bombarding you right now. It's not a quick, easy or painless process. However, you do not need to go through it alone. Too many of us know exactly how it feels to lose our pets/sanity life lines/buddies. We will be with you through it all.

  2. I am glad Miss Skittle Diddle Knick Knack's upset tummy will feel better soon. $4000 - $7000 for surgery to repair her cruciate? Ouch!!!!! Any chance there are other more reasonably priced options? Accupunture, hydrotherapy, anything?

Hugs and scritches for your fruitbat. A triple scoop chocolate ice cream cone with your grandkids for you.

  3. Relax and deep breath. Sirocco also has pannus in both eyes. He gets prednisolone and cyclosporine twice a day and that controls it very well. (His opthamologist said that Sirocco's pannus was more stubborn than most cases in greyhounds - more like a german shephard's.) Some people have questioned if he has cataracts since he also has some haziness to the eye in addition to the redness. While pannus is not curable, it is extremely treatable. As a side bonus, the meds are not that expensive either. I pay more for collars and treats in a year than I do for his drops.

My only advice is: 1) See an opthamologist if there is any possibility of pannus and; 2) Follow the treatment plan religiously since untreated pannus can lead to blindness.

  4. Hugs and prayers. We lost our lab blend, Chester, to OS of the jaw 7 years ago. I have never regretted that we did not try radiation or chemo and surgery was not an option. Instead, he received pain medicines, hugs, kisses, and all the scritches he could handle. What I remember most about that time was fear: fear that we would wait too long; fear we would say good bye too soon; fear that he would suffer; fear that he would pass when we weren't home; and fear that the fear would never end. 7 years later, I still think of my handsome dude often but always with a smile.

  5. Your Kona sounds a lot like my bridge boy, Chester. I think Chester was the best boy to ever set paw upon this earth. What dogs like Kona and Chester lacked in breeding and puppy care, they more than made up for in love, loyalty and laughs. They are the true designer dogs: designed by God to be perfect. :grouphug
