  1. I can only imagine the joyful reunion today at the bridge. Trish, Bebe and Petey together again, plus all of her wonderful Full House family.

I am so sorry she had to leave you, but what a way to go - a full belly, a fun run, and lots of love and ear scritches. You were with her whenever she needed you Judy, and she will never forget that. Hugs to you, Mike and Kevin.

Godspeed pretty Bebe! Run with the angels

  2. I've been using coconut oil for almost a year now. My dogs love it! I just give them a heaping teaspoon on top of their dinner. I also brush their teeth with it. Grandy doesn't fight the toothbrush anymore, but she does fight me to eat the toothbrush now. :lol I started with just toothbrushing, then added it to their food a small amount at a time. None of mine have had any gastro discomfort from the coconut oil.

  3. Today we made the most difficult decision to let our wonderful boy Jake go.

The past years, as many of you know, have been up and down for Jake. He has fought TBD and more recently LS. On New Year's day he had his first crisis and collapsed, I wasn't sure he was going to survive that. But, with fabulous vet care and the strongest will eve,r we managed to get an extra year. The last 2 weeks have been increasingly difficult and it became clear that our time was running out. I had hoped to wait until the holidays were over, but had made an appointment for today "just in case".

Jake's passing was very gentle. With his head in my lap,his soft gaze held his vet Miki's and his heart stopped beating.

I know that Peanut, Foxy, Angus our border collie and Rita - Jake's littermate were there to meet him.

Godspeed my handsome man with the softest ears, you've left a big hole in my heart.

This is how I will think of him - whole, healthy and moving easily, playing with his sister Peanut.

  4. I'm still having a very hard time with this news, even though I had a feeling.

This is a boy I watched race, met at the kennel, and got to love on each and every visit to Jacksonville (or Sandy Paws). It's inconceivable that he won't be there in March

Love you bunches Ruler :beatheart and Miss Jenn :grouphug

  5. That looks exactly like a couple that Peanut got. She had a hemangioma removed from her toe, but a few months later had something that looked exactly like that on her belly. It disapeared on it's own, but then she got another one a few months later. If that's what it is, they bleed like crazy if they are accidently scratched open, just sayin'...

  6. Darn I wish I'd seen this earlier. As you know, John is one of my special boys.

Jake has had symptoms somewhat similar and has always tested neg for TBD's of all kinds. However, he does respond to treatment with doxy and our vet is pretty sure that he has one of the rarer forms of ehrlichia. He's been treated 4 times in total now. Once about 3 years ago but not a high dose, so he relapsed about 5 months later. That got us just over 2 years symptom free. He had a relapse in April, and another very short lived one 2 weeks ago. I know of 2 other hounds that show similar signs but also test neg. I hope in the end you do get a clear diagnosis, that is always a good thing. But, if you don't and this happens again, keep in mind what we have gone through. My boy is now 13 1/2 and just keeps trucking along.

  7. Glad you have something on hand to draw it out (whatever it is). In a pinch you can use soap and sugar. My Mom used to use that when I was a kid, it felt really weird.

Hope Dustin is back to normal very quickly.

Soap and sugar? How is that applied? I've never heard of that but sometimes those things work the best!

My Mom just mixed up some bar soap and sugar together then put it on a large band aid or gauze. Taped it on over night and ewwww they yuck that would be there the next day!!
