  1. Can't believe I hadn't seen this yet, have been looking at this girl several times.

Had hoped she was in Dillsburg and at least I could visit her.

But Mechanicsburg is a bit too much on the bike now.

Have been bugging DH about her, she is the type of dog I am so used to and she would fit in seen her age I think.

But I think DH needs more time to get used to the fact that we have four instead of two now.

Five is scaring him, although, I really want to foster again.

Any chance I could see her and perhaps make a few pics, she is gorgeous?

  2. Well, look who found her way overhere :lol

    LOL, should I feel stalked?

If so, Cara and Paquita want to know when you get on that plane and please bring the rest.

The little white monster misses chasing your cats.

Hil, you may want to read the rules here regarding posts on animal abuse and so on.

Anyway, mis you guys, big hug for the family, dogs and kitties.

  3. After being here for 3 weeks we already had to take Cara to the vet.

As I had mentioned before, Cara gets really red eyes and had been treated with AB's before we moved over.

Her eyes had looked better but the last 2 weeks they got really bad again and so we went, as discussed with my Dutch vet, the a vet overhere.

We had a feeling, after trying several things that she might have an allergic reaction.

We already had her on a diet with just meat, which hadn't cleared it up, so pollen or something in the environment was our next guess.

We had hoped with the big change we made that she would be better, but not.

Overall, it doesn't look like a big problem, but just think how terrible it feels when your eyes are always itching.

The vets over here were really interested in her passport, which is a must if you travel with your pet in Europe.

All vaccinations are noted down in there, every treatment a vet does and it contains their tattoo or chipnumber.

And as I am used to, I took it with me for this vet visit also.

The vet listened to the story and agreed with what my last vet had said and decided that she would measure the tearproduction in Cara's eyes. Not a fun test, but she behaved really well.

It showed that she was way below average, meaning her eyes were really dry and will not flush out stuff that doesn't belong in there. Now she gets eyedrops to help tear production.

According to the vet this indicates that she indeed is allergic to something in the air and that it may need lifelong treatment.

Already, after putting drops in her eyes for 3 times, her eyes look a lot better.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that we probably found out what causes the redness and that I am really happy with this vet.

She took the time to listen and wanted to know what the other vet had said and done instead of totally starting at the beginning again. :)

  4. She back home, sore but ok.

Threw up 3 times after drinking a bit of water, she must have felt horrible.

They took out the growth and she now has a 2 inch long wound on her neck. Horrible place, both collar and harness will touch it so we have to be really careful.

Before the op I was told her blood was ok, but when the other vet brought her back home, we talked a little (he knows my dogs very, very well and is the vet for the coursingtrack that is close) about the way she is acting lately and he siad to check her thyroid again in one or two months. It was on the low side.

Not low enough to get her on meds yet, but if it goes down more she needs to be on medication.

Also just found out her littermate past away 3 months ago, 2 weeks after an operation. They don't know why, he just didn't wake up one morning.

So I am keeping a real good eye on her, she is only 7 and I need her around a long long time.

  5. Yesterday I was back at the vet with Paquita.

The result on the needle aspirations were back and luckily the mass isn't malignant.

But it is right on her trachea in a very nasty place.

Since she will have to be on the plane in 7 weeks we aren't going to take the risk that it will suddenly start growing and cause her breathing problems, it will be removed on wednesday.

Still, the fact that she is panting so much, and her fears are so much worse for the last couple of week and she even tried to bite me when I came close to her treat still puzzles us.

So blood was taken friday to thoroughly check it out.

Up to now longs, heart, liver, kidneys and so on are fine.

Only a slight raised Creat. level The rest of her blood is sent of to check for other things like thyroid problems.

:( really hate having to put her through this.
