  1. I thought I had worked Willow up to enough time alone in the house that she would be ok if we out for three hours to a pot luck at friends. Willow is the youngest of our two greys and exhibits more puppy behavior. I was greeted with a destroyed dog beg upon our return and our other grey (Hoku), whippet (Pablo), and Chuinni (Buddy) were quite upset and needed many pets to comfort them. Apparently willow was barking and carrying on for hours. Hoku is the dog laying by the ruined bed. Willow was off slinking into the corner looking guilty off camera. I have had whippets since the late 80's and feel confident raising two young greys, but never feel like you have everything wired. That is when you get a new surprise that bites you. Oh well, the bed is in the trash, we hauled in a old bed to replace it. Willow will get more alone time at night in increasing amounts and we will see what happens. Got to keep your sense of humor even when something gets wrecked.

  3. Never fear, sometimes things can work out. Deva, our whippet girl, was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia at the age of two. With lots of work with our vet, she lived to be 14. Every day was a blessing she was alive. I never expected her to live beyond the age of five. We live out in the middle of nowhere, far from any specialists. Please don’t discount what your normal vet can do. Years after she was of the meds, I still looked at her gums and ears to see if they were pink. That was the tell if things were wrong. She always looked like a starving child…but she was alpha and the “fun police”. Best of luck with your dog! Deva is the brindle, policing our other two whippets.
  4. The Holistic Horse also has herbs fords, cats, miscellaneous farm animals, and people. a great site. We get the horse herbs. Have never been disappointed.
  5. I had a request for a picture of our whippet from banjo man. His name is Pablo and we got him from the Bay area whippet rescue.
  6. Hi Got the picture thing figured out. Hope this works! Sorry my titles didn't work. The pretty girl with the blue collar is Willow and the big hansom boy with his tongue on the tile is Hoku.
  7. Will gladly post pictures as soon as I figure out how. Anyone have a teenager I can borrow?
  8. We got Hoku, star in Hawaiian, in August. Lovely male who is fitting in with the whippet and chihuahua mix. So, just like potato chips, you can't have just one! Two weeks ago we adopted Willow too. Now we have two big black sighthounds. We were used to whippets who would never dream of getting their dainty feet wet. No fear about them getting into the pond, then mucking up the house with wet feet. Greyhounds love water! They gallop around the yard, then jump in the pond to cool off, and dash around some more. And of course use the dog door to put paw prints all over the living room. Got to love them! Off to our morning walk...
